Ram Madhvani and Prasoon Joshi collaborate for Bodhi Dharma webseries

After 14 years, filmmaker Ram Madhvani returned to the cinema last year with the emotional roller coaster film Neerja starring Sonam Kapoor.It was one of the most successful films of 2016 that gave Sonam Kapoor much needed critical acclaim. Now, Ram Madhvani is stepping into a different genre with a mythological web series titled Bodhidharma: Master of Shaolin. Ram Madhvani has now collaborated with writer and lyricist Prasoon Joshi for a web series that will be available on Amazon Prime. It will follow the story of a warrior prince in the 6th century who became the founder of martial arts and the Shaolin Temple in China. Confirming the news to a leading daily, Prasoon Joshi recently said that the germ of the idea came to Ram Madhvani who had stumbled upon the information and was convinced it would make for an enticing plot. Both of them started writing and with brainstorming, introduced more characters. While researching about the characters and Princes past, they found a lot of interesting material and so, required a larger format to accommodate it all. Though Ram wanted to make a film on it, they eventually thought that a web series will be a better option. Ram Madhvani also confirmed the news and stated that they would release all the hour-long episodes together so that one can binge watch. He said that the web series will be a dramatic, gut-wrenching, adventure fiction tale. And in between all this, there will be a cozy love story. He further added that this web series is not his first tryst with action. Years ago, he had made Indias first ad that had bungee jumping in it. Ram Madhvani and Prasoon Joshi are still casting the actors to fit the roles perfectly. Their plan is to start the pre-production as soon as possible. Their attempt will be to create a visual spectacle without compromising on storytelling.
