Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt earned several accolades for the bold film Arth that dealt with infidelity and insecurities. The film that has even been made into a popular play will now be remade as a Pakistani film by producer-distributor Hammad Chaudhary in association with AAA Motion Pictures. Directed by Shaan Shahid of Khuda Ke Liye fame, the film has been retitled as Arth 2 along with Shaan himself playing the lead. The film will also star Humaima Malick, Mohib Mirza and Uzma Hassan. Claiming that the Pakistani audiences have become much more liberal when it comes to accepting the contemporary relationships, Hammad stated that the essence of the film will remain intact. On the other hand, Mahesh Bhatt too is delighted about the Pakistani remake of Arth and mentioned that he has given complete freedom to Shaan and Hammad to recreate the story of the film and interpret it in their own way. Arth starred Shabana Azmi , Smita Patil and Kulbushan Kharbanda in lead roles and revealed the story of a director who falls in love with an insecure actress despite being married. While the actress insecurities make her life miserable, the wife who is cast away by her husband tries to recoup the setback and attempts to re-create her life. Arth 2 is modern take on relationships and is almost eighty percent complete. The film is slated to release in summer 2016.
