Reference to Ramayan removed from Ram Gopal Varmas Sarkar 3

9 May 2017

RamGopalVarmas Sarkar3 seems to have impressed theCensor Board of Film Certification. Sources at the CBFCdescribe the film as Ramus best in years. However theyve taken offence to a reference to LordHanumanin one of thedialoguesand asked the director to remove it. Says a source close to the development, Its adialoguewhere Hanuman and Vivibhishana, one who burnt down Lankaand one who ruled it, two characters fromRamayanare spoken about. Weve asked them to delete the mythological reference as it doesnt go well with the scene of the crime in the film. Apparently the jury members of the CBFChave been given power to impose a blanket ban on all mythological/religious references that are out of their original context. This is the second time Hanuman has come under the censor scanner. Last month Anushka Sharma s Phillauri was told to get rid of actorSurajSharmas chanting of theHanumanChalisa. CBFCchairpersonPahlajNihalanisays, Weve to be very, very careful about religious sentiments. Were living in ultra-sensitive times where even a passing reference to a religious figure could trigger off legal action against the films makers, and theCBFC. At the same time were very careful to not disturb the flow of the narrative in any film. We ask for no changes that affect the story.
