Vashu Bhagnani wants to sign Sanjay Gadhvi again after Ajab Gazabb Love

16 Jun 2012

He shot to limelight after delivering two huge money-spinners in the form of Dhoom and Dhoom 2, only to stumble on a roadblock called Kidnap. Though Sanjay Gadhvi was in a brief oblivion after that, he has now returned to making films with Ajab Gazabb Love. Now if reports trickling in from the sets of the film are any indication, Gadhvi has returned to vintage form with this love story that takes him back to his roots of romantic entertainers like Mere Yaare Ki Shaadi Hai and Tere Liye.

"He is someone who understands commercial cinema and is quite a pro in his work. I have worked with some new directors in the last two-three years but looking at him, I can say that he can be left entirely on his own to do the job", says producer Vashu Bhagnani who roped in new filmmakers for his son Jackky's launch pad Kal Kissne Dekha followed by F.A.L.T.U. , "In fact after seeing him work for just 10 days, I realized that yeh bahaut hi suljha hua director hai."

He goes on to draw parallels with David Dhawan with whom he has worked quite extensively during last couple of decades.

"I have seen David having a similar control over the proceedings. Now Sanjay is giving me that comfort feel. In fact I am not even required to spend an entire day on the sets. More often than not I just go there in the morning and come back after lunch", adds Vashu.

For Sanjay, such confidence being instilled in his producer comes as a shot in the arm since he is coming back to direction after a hiatus. Since he was contractually bound by a production house to resume working with others only after certain time duration, there was some time lost in the interim period. However, the way shoot of Ajab Gazabb Love is currently taking place with Jackky and newcomer Nidhi Subbaiah, he may well be compensated for the lost time soon.

"I am so impressed with Sanjay that I would most likely sign him again this year itself. I am sure we would find out some script and start working on a film again", says Vashu.

A remake of South film Seema Thapkai, Ajab Gazabb Love also stars Arjun Rampal and Arshad Warsi and is all set to release on October 24.
