Thefirst Vishwaroopam film, which came in 2013, had proved controversial enough for itshelmerand thelead actorKamalHaasanto actually toy with the idea of leaving the country to makeany further films. But, he is back with a sequel to thefilm about global terrorism. And thistime, as theCBFCclamps down on the long-delayed Vishwaroopam2, KamalHaasanis not willing to budge. According to a source from theCBFC,the situation regarding the censoring of Vishwaroopam2 is anomalous. The film has been passed with aU certificatein Tamil andTelugu. In Hindi, thejury is divided. Some want to give it UA instead of U and that too with 17cuts. TheCBFCsource says thisanomaly has become a common practice. We cant have a uniform code of censorship for the whole country. The Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions of Vishwaroopam have to becensored as three independent films because every languagecomes with its diverse cultural background. For example, we find a lot of Malayalam films haveextremelyexplicit sexual content that wont be acceptablein, say, TamilNaduorAndhraPradesh. Regardingthe proposedcuts inthe Hindiversion of Vishwaroopam2, the source says, They arelargelyverbal cuts, references topolitics andterror outfits that needto be toned down.
