Jodhpur court frames fresh charges on Salman, Saif

23 Mar 2013

A Jodhpur court read out fresh charges against Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre in connection with the infamous black buck poaching case.

While the other actors were present for the hearing held earlier today, Salman, who is away in US for medical treatment, was absent and was represented by his lawyer who sought medical exemption for the actor's absence at the hearing.

Salman has been charged under the Wildlife Protection Act for hunting blackbucks (a rare and protected species) while the other actors were charged under the Act for hunting and inciting Salman to hunt. However the charges against Salman under the Arms Act have been dropped.

The court will hear the case again on April 27, when the statements of witnesses will be recorded. If convicted, the actors face upto 6 years in jail.
