Rani to play lead in YRF's Mardaani

Last year, we saw Rani Mukerji in two starkly contrasting roles with Aiyyaa and Talaash , while this year she will be seen in Bombay Talkies that celebrates 100 years of Indian Cinema as well as in a guest appearance in Chennai Express . Rani now we hear has already signed her next, which will be directed by Pradeeep Sarkar.

The film titled Mardaani will feature Rani playing a cop. Sources state that this will be the boldest, grittiest subject YRF have ever ventured into, where the story revolves around a female cop and will also showcase Sarkar's departure from the romance and family drama to a never done before raw and bold subject.

Mardaani, produced by Yash Raj Films is scheduled to go on floor towards the end of this year and will begin with a major portion being shot in Mumbai.

Previously, Sarkar has directed Rani in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag .
