Anurag Kashyap to boycott National Film Awards

3 May 2013

Prolific director Anurag Kashyap who won the National Film Award for best sound recording for his film Gangs Of Wasseypur, has decided on boycotting the felicitating ceremony that's scheduled for Thursday evening. This comes after two of his award-winning sound team members were not invited for the presentation ceremony.

Apparently sound engineers Alok De, Sinoy Joseph and Shreejesh Nair who were pronounced as the winners of the National Film Award for the Best Audiography for Gangs of Wasseypur earlier in March. It was only later that they were informed that just one of the three, Alok De, had received an invitation to the 60th National Film Awards presentation ceremony.

The reason being, that only Part 1 of the film was selected for the honour, hence, only Alok De would be receiving the award. Post this, the team of the film approached the Information and Broadcasting Ministry but hasn't received any response as yet, thus prompting Anurag to vent his displeasure by boycotting the function.
