While adapting books has been a common trend in Bollywood, here comes yet another adaptation. But this time it's from a famous series! Popular for being one of India's first detective series made by Basu Chatterjee, Byomkesh Bakshi, a fictional character created by Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay is back! Director Dibakar Banerjee has plans to direct and also co-produce the film titled Detective Byomkesh Bakshi with Yash Raj Films and has roped in Sushant Singh Rajput to play the lead. The movie will be based on the backdrop of early 40s, and will revolve on the early life of Byomkesh i.e. his college life and how the detective came into being. The film will also have Byomkesh being pitted against the devil who is about to destroy the world.

The director however is still thinking over whether he will be making Detective Byomkesh Bakshi into a franchise. The film will go on floor in January next year and will release by end of 2014.
