Bhaag Milkha Bhaag shortened for International Market

19 Aug 2013

With the immense success Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's latest film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has commanded at the Indian box-office, it now appears that the eccentric director has reduced the length of the film by 30 minutes ahead of its international release.

Although cutting short the film is no easy task, with the songs of the film being a crucial narrative element carrying the film forward, Rakesh and his film editor PS Bharathi scrutinized the entire footage to narrow down the shots that could be axed.

Talking about the decision in reducing the length of the film, the maverick director said that they have not forced cuts into the narration and that Bharathi and he wanted to make it into a no-interval format. With the custom of not breaking the film into two parts in the west, Rakesh wanted to do away with the norm of having an interval in Indian films.
