22 Jan 2014

Hansal Mehta has been very upset with the fact that his film Shahid received an A certificate during its release. The director who came across films like Madras Cafe, Grand Masti and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela believes that his film has much less adult content compared to them and hence Shahid should be given a U/A certificate. Hence, the director has filed an RTI against these films.

The director is currently facing trouble to sell the satellite rights of the film because of the A certificate and believes that his film was treated with discrimination during certification. He stated that Madras Cafe is violent while the explicit language and kissing scenes of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela was passed with viewing under parental guidance while Shahid which has no kissing or violent gruesome scenes and yet has been given an Adult certificate.

Shahid stars Rajkumar Yadav in the lead and the film is inspired by the real life lawyer and human activist Shahid Azmi.
