Shyam Benegal to make 90 minute film for Punjab government

The very moment one hears the name of the legendary filmmaker Shyam Benegal, one is assured of class and authenticity. After directing many a meaningful cinema for the silver screen, Benegal will now be seen making a 90-minute film on the turbulent history of Punjab, a task which has been commissioned to him by the Government of Punjab.

Talking about the same, he said he will be starting off with the work by monsoon as soon as he is ready with the script's structure. He is expecting the film to be ready by December. He added that the said project was a great initiative by the government as a lot of youngsters aren't aware about the formation of the present-day Punjab. Meanwhile, his daughter Pia Benegal will be designing the costumes of the film's actors, who are yet to be decided. The film will firstly be screened at the cultural centre, and then will be available on other platforms
