David Dhawan says no offence meant to Katrina

2 Apr 2014

A supposedly funny line in David Dhawan's Main Tera Hero, where Raju Kher takes a dig at Katrina Kaif's lack of command over the Hindi language had the affable director being confronted with lots of righteous protest.

David says he never expected the line would go viral. "It is just an off-the-cuff remark, a bantering quip in the film, and Katrina is a girl I've known for many years. In fact she did her first big film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya with Salman and me. She can never be offended with what I do. She knows it's all in fun." David's was recently quoted as saying his son Varun won't get married until Salman does.

Laughs the filmmaker, "I was just doing some masti with my son. I don't see any likelihood of Salman getting married. So I was kidding about Varun staying a bachelor." David gets sentimental aboutthe filial bonding. "Directing Varun has brought us closer together. During a schedule in Bangkok when I took ill I could feel Varun's panic." David says it was a reaction to medicines that almost killed him in Bangkok. "I had taken a fall in Bangkok and was taking medicine for the injuries. I made the mistake of gulping down the medicines on an empty stomach. The medicines reacted and I passed out. My son saved my life that day."
