Akshay, Sonakshi keep Holiday 100 crore bash on hold

19 Jun 2014

Holiday is all set to touch 100 crore tomorrow and it is a matter of celebration for all involved. The entire team felt that it was just apt to throw a bash in order to celebrate the event. However, all of that has been put on hold due to absence of two critical players - Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.

"Both of them are out of Mumbai for almost a month. While Akshay is in Mauritius for a family holiday (though he is also shooting intermittently for Shaukeen there), Sonakshi is busy shooting for her upcoming films and would return only around 10th July. Though Vipul Shah as well as Reliance, who have produced the film, felt that it was a good idea to celebrate the success of Holiday, they didn't feel right to do so in absence of both the lead actors," informs our source.

For everyone associated with the film though, the 100 crore success of Holiday couldn't have been more timely.

"After all, this is Akshay's third after Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore . On the other hand, Sonakshi Sinha is now a leading lady with highest number of 100 crore successes, what with Holiday being her fifth (after Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar and Dabangg 2 ). For Vipul Shah, this is his entry into the 100 crore club while A.R. Murugadoss, popularly known as the 'Father of the 100 crore club' after Aamir Khan's Ghajini , has kept his record intact with Holiday. With so many milestones being attached to the film, it is just apt that a celebration takes place only when the entire team is present," the source adds.

No wonder, all plans have been deferred till mid-July before Akshay and Sonakshi are back in town.

"That's right," confirms Vipul, "We all, including Akshay and Sonakshi, are dying to have a party. However, we will wait they are back." Perhaps by then, the film would also have the honor of being the highest grosser of the year by edging past Salman Khan's Jai Ho which had collected Rs. 116 crore.
