Arbaaz Khan delighted with award for Varun Sharma

2 Aug 2014

Varun Sharma has recently won an online poll for Best Actor in a comic role, courtesy his stupendous act in Fukrey which brought him all around laurels. While the youngster is of course flying high with continued recognition he is gaining even a year after he was first seen on the big screen, he has also managed to keep the producer of his next film Dolly Ki Doli happy. "Yes, it is a matter of pride to see an actor from my film seeing such good appreciation," says Arbaaz, who chose Varun as one of the key protagonists in his Sonam Kapoor starrer, "He was excellent in Fukrey and the awards he is getting are all well deserved. What impresses me most is that he has how own brand of comedy; he doesn't mimic anyone or follows a traditional path. He is an original and that is what is making him stand out." That is pretty apparent from the fact that despite competition from the entire Grand Masti (Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani) and Go Goa Gone (Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Virr Das) team, Varun managed to come up trumps and emerge at the top.

No wonder, one can well expect Arbaaz to be happy about the casting decisions he has made for Dolly Di Doli which sees another Fukrey actor, Pulkit Samrat, in the lead along with Rajkummar Rao, who has won a National Award already for Shahid.

"Well, I think casting by itself is a very huge process. There are many parameters to be kept in mind, such as capability, availability, willingness and fitment. In that perspective, whether it is Varun, Rajkummar or Pulkit, we have a very apt cast in place. They are here because they fit in most of the parameters. They were signed for Dolly Di Doli long ago and the recognition they are gaining today pleases me because it reinforces the fact that the decision to cast them in the film was right." Now we await their onscreen act to be picture perfect too once the film releases all over on February 6.
