John Abraham in back to back releases Welcome Back and Rocky Handsome?

6 Sep 2014

Just when one was settling down to the fact that the makers of John Abraham's Welcome Back are planning to bring the film on January 23, next year (and hence clashing with either Baby or Gabbar - as one of the two would certainly move ahead), there is more. His Rocky Handsome has now been finalized for February 6, hence resulting in as many as two John Abraham starrers in a matter of a fortnight.

"That's right, the film is confirmed for February 6," confirms our source, "It has been making brisk progress ever since it went on floors in June this year. John Abraham and director Nishikanth Kamat are enjoying every day of shooting while reminiscing the good time they had together when they worked on Force . Just like Force , even Rocky Handsome is an out and out action affair." In that prospect, it belongs to an altogether different genre when compared to Welcome Back which is a comic outing from the stable of Anees Bazmee. Though there is still uncertainty around the final date, speculations around its arrival on the weekend leading to Republic Day have pretty much caught steam, considering the fact that this is the first long weekend of the year.

"With Welcome Back and Rocky Handsome placed so close to each other, they would gain from immense hype that would surround around their arrival," the source adds, "Any publicity is good publicity and as long as two of your films are not arriving on the same weekend, it is okay." A prominent PR and Marketing personnel has a different thought process though. "How would he manage the promotion of both movies? It is tiring enough to promote one movie through multi-city tours and other events. Now when there are two movies involved, he could still breathe relatively better if the PR on both films is the same, as he/she can manage his calendar accordingly. However, if the two PRs are different, it would be very tough for the entire team around John Abraham to coordinate and get the right dates for the right events," she opines.

Meanwhile, personally for John, it would be the case of 'two much too soon', pun intended, as after an eventful 2013 ( Race 2, Shootout at Wadala, Madras Cafe - all successes, and only one flop I, Me Aur Main ) followed by a blank 2014, he would now be kick-starting 2015 with a bang, as he is all set to send a note of Welcome Back to Rocky Handsome .
