Mohit Suri to adapt Chetan Bhagat's 'Half Girlfriend' into a film

Only few days after Chetan Bhagat's 'Half Girlfriend' hit the stand, it seems that the book has already got a buyer who is all set to adapt it on the silver-screen. After the success of 2 States, Chetan's next book Revolution 2020 too was announced with Arjun Kapoor. Though in its initial stage, 'Half Girlfriend' too will now be officially adapted into film with Mohit Suri directing it.

'Half Girlfriend' is a love story of a Bihari boy and an upper society girl. Based on the backdrop of how English defines a class system, it also talks about Madhav who wants a relationship with the high society, urban and English speaking Riya, but the girl is not interested in commitment. Hence, she decides to be his half girlfriend.

Mohit Suri, who liked the story owing to its simplicity revealed that the girl's character will be a musician in the film. He also mentioned that the story touched his heart and he ended up crying while reading the story. Chetan Bhagat on the other hand too is very excited about his book being adapted on the silver screen and stated that when Mohit read the manuscript, he immediately decided to partner with him.

Though the details of the cast and crew are yet to be finalized, Half Girlfriend is slated to go on floor next year after Mohit Suri wraps up his other commitments. The film will be shot in varied locations from Bihar to Delhi to New York. Mohit is currently busy with the Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Rajkummar Rao starrer Hamari Adhuri Kahani .
