CBFC clears Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year with 'U' certificate

Earlier this week we had reported that the soon to release Farah Khan directed multi- starrer Happy New Year was all set to be a three hour entertainer. Now we hear that the film that was recently screened for officials of the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been awarded a 'U' certificate.

"We, at Red Chillies Entertainment (RCE), have always believed in making a film which can be enjoyed by one and all. And with U certificate attached to the film it is only going to enhanced the potential and appeal right from the kids to youngsters to adults. From the day Farah and I decided to make Happy New Year, we wanted it to be a wholesome family entertainer and now with Censor's U certificate on it, we can proudly say that this Diwali go out with your family and watch Happy New Year because as the title the film is a happy one," shares Shah Rukh Khan.

Adding to SRK director Farah Khan said, "I always believed in making an entertaining film to be enjoyed by not just one section or age-group but everyone. I always keep this in mind even when I'm writing or bringing my writing material to the celluloid. This Diwali, I as a director bring this Family Wholesome Entertainment and I hope that Happy New Year will make this a Happy Diwali for every family".

Happy New Year stars Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah. The film produced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd and directed by Farah Khan and is slated to release on October 24.
