Vikramaditya Motwane to direct music video for Bombay Velvet

3 Nov 2014

A while back, we had reported that the release date of Anurag Kashyap's neo-noir film Bombay Velvet had been postponed to 2015. Now we hear that the director, who has found extra time to work on his project, will be shooting a special music video for the film.

Interestingly, Anurag will not be directing the said video, instead Vikramaditya Motwane, who earlier directed films like Lootera and Udaan will shoot the music video. A source close to the film confirms the development saying, "The music video will be a jazz number set in the 60's featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and also Karan Johar, who plays a media mogul in the film, and directed by Vikramaditya." Further the source informs us, "Currently, the video is still being conceptualized, but once done, it will be shot to convey the general idea of the film." However, the track will not be a part of the film, but will instead be used for promotions.

Bombay Velvet that is produced by Phantom Films and Fox Star Studios is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. The film features Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Raveena Tandon, Kay Kay Menon, Siddhartha Basu and Remo Fernandes and is slated for release in May 2015.
