Kiran Rao appointed as the Chairperson for MAMI film festival

Aamir Khan's wife and director Kiran Rao has now taken up a new responsibility. She has been appointed as the Chairperson of the famous MAMI film festival, as the current Chairperson Shyam Benegal has decided to step out of the position.

Elaborating on the decision, Shyam Benegal mentioned that he has immense faith in Kiran's abilities to handle this responsibility. In fact, he further added that she will be able to add that youthful spunk that has been missing from the festival for a while now. Appreciating Kiran Rao and calling her as an 'independent' and 'very able lady', the veteran filmmaker also stated that she has many contacts which will help in the development of MAMI in the future.

Along with the chairperson, we also hear that the position of Festival Director will be taken over by film critic and wife of producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, from Srinivasan Narayan who is currently holding the post. Shyam Benegal also expressed his excitement about having Anupama on board as the Festival Director and was all praises for her too.
