3 songs of Anushka Sharma, 2 songs of Raveena Tandon edited out of Bombay Velvet

8 Apr 2015

The ravishing Raveena Tandon was supposed to open Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet with a song. No more. Raveena's opening song and another number that she had shot for, have both been snipped off, for reasons of length.

This decision was taken by the film's American editor Thelma Schoonmaker (who edits the films of Martin Scorcese).

Says a source close to the project, "The film was 3 hours long. It had to be brought down to close to 2 hours. Thelma wanted all the songs to go. Three of Anushka Sharma's songs are gone. Raveena's first song was the introductory montage as the opening credits rolled. Raveena Tandon was meant to introduce all the characters. Now that song is gone. Raveena's second song has also been largely removed. Just a portion of it remains." Bombay Velvet will open with a big thanks to Raveena Tandon.

She has earned their gratitude.
