Farhan Akhtar won't sing for other heroes

There is a clamor to get Farhan Akhtar to sing for other leading men. One hears Ranveer Singh was very keen that Farhan sing for him in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do .But Farhan Akhtar is not biting the bait. In fact he reveals he has resolved not to sing for anyone but himself.

Says Farhan, "In all honestly playback singing is not my scene. I see singing as an extension of my performance on screen. So no, I can't sing for anyone else. I am also doing independent music, not connected with film music. For me to sing for another actor is not an exciting thought." Farhan Akhtar confesses he is mighty kicked by his singing career. "I cannot begin to tell you how joyous it is to go on stage and perform. Like skydiving, it's an experience that can't be explained, only experienced. On stage, there is an instant connect with the audience." Farhan sees singing as an extension of his social reformation activities. "I wanted a vehicle that would take my ideas to colleges and schools. The way youngsters respond to music is something else. It opens up the public's heart. Music has worked tremendously to enhance my social conscience. In all honesty the resonant impact of music is by far more influential than acting or directing. Before there was cinema, there was music. The heartbeat is music. It's inherent in all of us."
