Shanghai screened in Baghdad

25 Jul 2012

Cross border relations have always been a strain in the Indian subcontinent. However, cricket and films have always been successful in cutting through the red tape. The latest is Dibakar Banerjee's film Shanghai. In fact the film was screened in Baghdad, just outside the Green Zone on July 15.

However, the screening did have its share of hic-cups with two power failures. But this didn't deter the audience with Safia Taleb Al Suhail, member of the Iraqi Parliament and His Excellency Suresh Reddy, felicitating the show, even a few soldiers sneaked in for the show.

This screening made Shanghai the first Indian film to be screened in the last 20 years in Iraq.
