12 Aug 2015

On August 16, 5 days ahead of the release of the film Manjhi The Mountain Man, Nawazuddin Siddiqui who plays Dashrath Manji and his director Ketan Mehta would be travelling down to Manjhi's native place Gehlaur in Bihar to meet the biopic hero's family.

Ketan has planned to hand over a substantial monetary compensation to Manji's immediate family for allowing the filmmaker access to the man's amazing story.

Says Nawaz, "I don't know what Ketan has planned. But I do know he has planned something really big for Manjhi's family. I'm accompanying him there. We want to express our gratitude and solidarity." Nawazuddin plays Manjhi the man who spends 22 years of his life carving a road through the mountain that separated his village from the nearest hospital.

This role and performance are already being much-discussed by Nawaz's fans who now see him as a huge scenestealer. In Bajrangi Bhaijaan and earlier Badlapur, Nawaz got more applause than the leading man in some scenes.

Pondering over that one the actor says, "Being a scene stealer is not a good thing in our film industry. It tends to put leading men on their guard. Such a reputation can finish off my career. Right now I am happy playing Manjhi. It's a story of courage and determination. I see it as my own Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom ."
