Rohit Shetty caught in a controversy over bribing Censors for Singham Returns

14 Aug 2015

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who is known for his blockbuster 100 crore films, has now been caught in a CBI case for bribery. Reportedly, the director-producer is under CBI scrutiny for allegedly bribing the Censor Board to pass his film Singham Returns . Apparently, Singham Returns which released on the Independence Day last year, had been given its certification a week prior to the release, that is, on August 8. It is being said that Rohit Shetty bribed Rakesh Kumar, the ex chief of the CBFC for passing his film without any objection. However, this is not the first time the Censors have been accused of bribery. In fact, Rakesh Kumar had to withdraw from his post as the Chief owing to many accusations of bribery against him.

The CBI sent a recommendation to their Delhi headquarters in January 2015 and the Mumbai unit is currently investigating the matter.
