Does Kapil Sharma now regret not promoting Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon?

29 Sep 2015

Kapil Sharma can take a bow, and look even more smug. His feature-film debut in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon opened well. And to think that Kapil Sharma did not/could not give the producers time to promote the film. According to sources, Kapil was unable to give the producers the time they needed to promote the film. But now guess who's having the last laugh? Television's funniest man Kapil Sharma has surprised cynics by delivering what looks like a hit debut film. In spite of the bad reviews, the film has had a heartening opening all over India.

Says a representative of the leading multiplex chain in Mumbai, "Among the four releases this Friday only Kapil's Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon came anywhere close to being considered an opener. No doubt, Kapil has a fan following, and it followed him into the theatres." Producer Ratan Jain is one relieved man. His last two productions Priyadarshan's Tezz and Satish Kaushik's Gangs Of Ghosts sank without a trace. Says Jain, "There was this doubt among a certain section that Kapil's home-viewing fans may not be willing to shell out Rs 350 to watch him in the theatres. But we were always sure. We knew Kapil's fans would rush to see his film. The opening has been an eye-opener."
