Salim Khan lashes out at son Salman Khan's detractors

26 Apr 2016

Salman Khan has been announced as the Olympian ambassador for India at the 2016 Rio Olympics. While industry folk and quite a few others supported then decision congratulating the actor, there were a few who thought otherwise. In fact Milkha Singh and some other sports persons have expressed their discontent about the actor being selected as the ambassador.

Now reacting to Salman Khan's detractors, the actor's father Salim Khan, who recently joined twitter took to the social media platform defending Salman. Tweeting to Milkha Singh in particular the veteran scriptwriter posted, "Milkhaji it is not Bollywood it is the Indian Film Industry and that too the largest in the world. The same industry which resurrected you from fading away in oblivion". However, Salim Khan didn't stop there, in fact he went on to say, "Salman khan may not have competed but is an A level swimmer cyclist and weight lifter, sportsmen are performing because of sports lovers like us." For the uninitiated, Milkha Singh had lashed out at Salman Khan being appointed as the Olympic brand ambassador for the 2016 Rio Olympics questioning the decision claiming that it should have been a sports personality like PT Usha, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Ajit Pal and others could have been made a goodwill ambassador. What was the need to import a person from Bollywood? Clearing his stance further Milkha added that while he wasn't angry with the actor in any way, he was flummoxed with the IOA that made the decision of roping in the actor.
