Emraan Hashmi's Azhar to feature 'real footage' of cricket's biggest sting operation ever?

7 May 2016

Much anticipated film Azhar releases on the coming Friday and so far, the makers have kept things tightly under wraps. Ever since the unveiling of the trailer, several ex-cricketers and Bollywood personalities have gone into a tizzy in anticipation of how (and if) they have been portrayed in the film.

A source says, "The makers have ensured absolute authenticity in certain events that were narrated to them. Making a film on such a sensitive subject warrants the right representation and thus the makers are looking at ways to insert the 'real' footage of the sting operation in the film." The sting operation on the match fixing scandal had shocked the nation and the sport of cricket. The lid was blown off several players through the sting expose. With makers trying to get the real footage in the film, there is bound to be some nervousness around in the cricket fraternity.

Tony D'Souza, the director of the Emraan Hashmi starrer confirms, "We have recreated the sting from existing footage available, but we are trying to get our legal teams to figure the process to insert parts of the real tapes." Now, it has to be seen if the real footage does make it through on the big screen or the makers have to rely on the recreated footage to stay as authentic as possible.
