Kushan Nandy blames Chitrangda Singh over Babumoshai Bandookbaaz controversy

14 Jun 2016

Yesterday we had reported that Chitrangda Singh walked out of the much delayed project Babumoshai Bandookbaaz after accusing director Kushan Nandy of being rude whilst directing her for an intimate scene amidst the entire unit. However, now, the filmmaker has come out to talk about the actress' apparent unprofessional behaviour on the sets. Readers may be aware that Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has been in the making for over a year and the film faced setbacks as the situation turned chaotic in West Bengal, where this film was initially supposed to be shot. However, after several delays, the film finally went on floor a few days ago in Lucknow but has now faced another obstacle with the leading lady calling it quits. Kushan Nandy, who is disappointed with Chitrangda, stated that the actress had been behaving weird and throwing tantrums ever since they set foot in Lucknow. He further revealed that though the actress agreed to the script and the scenes of the film when she was presented with the same over a year ago, as soon as the film went on floors, her behaviour changed despite the fact that there was no change in the character she was playing. He also added about the actress refusing to do romantic scenes which she was aware about ever since the start.

From stalling shoots to staying in the vanity van if the script wasn't changed according to her demands, Kushan listed down several such incidents after they started shooting. One amongst them, was when a choreographer was chasing Chitrangda for over three days for a dance sequence. But when neither she nor her team responded, they had to shoot the track minus the dance sequence. Claiming that his film is not erotica and that it has just the usual amount of intimacy in any other film like an Ishqiya or Band Baaja Baaraat, Kushan stated that he met Chitrangda to tell her that he wouldn't have any more of this behaviour and the actress apparently retorted and left the set.

Kushan also claimed that Chitrangda had called for a meeting with the entire unit as she was extremely flustered with things not going her way and there, discussed about rescripting the second half of the film. When the filmmaker refused, the actress asked him to find another leading lady and stormed out. According to Kushan, she continued to persuade him to make the changes until she boarded the flight back to the city, but he refused to budge as he did not want to compromise on the script despite the fact that he will incur losses.
