Renowned playback singer Mohit Chauhan who was supposed to perform in US has now been caught in a legal controversy with a US based event management company who has accused him of breach of contract. The company, ProMarcom Inc has allegedly demanded a sum of half a million US dollars (approx. Rs. 3.18 cr) as compensation after he was accused of cancelling concerts thrice.

An official from ProMarcom, Padma Tanniru revealed that the concert was postponed thrice, once in June 2015 after Mohit stated that he doesn't have a band of his own which he apparently did not inform them while signing the contract. The concert was pushed to September but then Mohit informed that one of his band members was suffering from dengue while the other was facing trouble in paperwork, hence the concert was finalized in November. However, right before the team boarded the flight to US in November, Tanniru mentioned that Mohit's wife and manager Prarthana demanded a hike in daily allowance and also for the copy of the contract. While Tanniru claimed that she assured that these conditions will be taken care of when the team arrives in the U.S, she added that Prarthana refused to budge and hence they had to cancel the concert, thereby incurring a loss of Rs. 48 lakhs which was paid to Mohit as the performance fee. The past nine months, according to Padma, have been spent in trying to establish contact with Mohit whom she alleged that is not responding to their calls or messagesOn the other hand, Mohit Chauhan's team has been maintaining that these are false allegations made with an intention to malign the singer's image in public and also, that they did abide by the contract but it was the company which failed to fulfill the terms. They further accused them for suffering losses because they couldn't accommodate any other concerts due to this.
