26 Jul 2016

Comedian-actor Rajpal Yadav known for films like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, Apna Sapna Money Money, Bhool Bhulaiyaa among others, has now been trapped in a legal controversy. Reportedly, the Supreme Court has slammed the actor over not settling his loans from a businessman.

A bench comprising of Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice R F Nariman claimed that the actor has been filing several undertakings for a long period of time and yet hasn't finished off the loan he has taken. A few days ago, the apex court had asked Rajpal to appear before them and surrender to Tihar Jail where he is yet to complete six days of the 10 day imprisonment he was sentenced to in 2013.

The loan amounts to Rs. 5 crores which was taken by Rajpal Yadav and his wife in 2010 from a Delhi based businessman named M G Agarwal whilst the actor was making his directorial debut Ata Pata Lapata. However, as per recent reports, not only did he fail to return the said amount but he has also been alleged of filing false affidavits in the apex court in 2013 with fake signature of his wife. Later, the recovery suit filed by Agarwal was moved to the High Court who accused Rajpal of resorting to false means and hence had even sentenced him for 10 days for contempt.
