Dishoom poster faces trouble from an NGO

4 Aug 2016

While the action comedy Dishoom that released last week is enjoying its success streak, a poster of the film is facing trouble owing to the portrayal of smoking in it. An NGO that works towards anti-smoking has raised objection over the same and has asked the makers to take down those posters of the film.

Shekhar Salkar, the general secretary of the NGO, claimed that the poster which has John smoking a cigarette promotes smoking which is against the law and should be withdrawn immediately. Ever since the trailer hit the tube, it was a well-known fact that John plays the role of a cop named Kabir who is a chain smoker. Considering that the actor himself is against smoking in real life, he even decided to go on a detox after playing the role. The makers of Dishoom are yet to react to this opposition raised by the NGO. On the other hand, we hear that the National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) will be taking action and lodging a complaint against the actor, director and producer if their demands aren't met.

Dishoom also stars Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Ferandez in lead roles along with Akshaye Khanna and Saqib Saleem. The film released on July 29.
