11 Aug 2016

Sonam Kapoor's heart touching tale of Neerja, the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra award, is now all set to go to Australia. The film, which has wooed the audiences across several countries at various film festivals, will now be screened at Melbourne Indian Film Festival.

Directed by Ram Madhvani, Neerja tells the tale of a model - senior flight attendant who sacrificed her life to save the lives of four children during a PanAm flight hijack. The film turned out to be one of the most appreciated films of 2016. Considering that the theme of MIFF this year is women empowerment, the film was selected as it was said to be apt to be screened at the festival.

Besides this, Rishi Kapoor will be honoured for his immense contribution to Indian cinema and actress Vidya Balan too will be present as she is the brand ambassador for the festival.
