Ranveer Singh is back in Padmavati, Deepika Padukone brings about a rapprochement

22 Aug 2016

After all the hue and cry over the casting musical chairs in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh who was rumoured to be contemplating a quiet exit from the project is back in the film.

Bhansali and Ranveer have collaborated over two blockbusters in the past, namely Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani. Ranveer was the natural and only choice to play the antagonistic warrior Allauddin Khilji who covets the Rajasthani queen Padmavati, to be played by Deepika Padukone, in Bhansali's proposed epic historical.

Trouble started when Shahid Kapoor was roped in to play Deepika's husband. Ranveer rightfully wanted to see how much of the screenplay belonged to him.

The director, said to have been disgruntled with Ranveer's demand/request (depending on which side you were listening to) threatened to replace Ranveer. While names of various A-list stars from Shah Rukh Khan to Hrithik Roshan were conveniently planted as replacements, Ranveer remained gracefully mum on the subject.

"Both Bhansali and Ranveer knew Padmavati couldn't be made without Ranveer. They held their peace and enjoyed all the speculation about Ranveer's replacement," says a source.

A few days back the actor and director met and ironed out their differences. While details about their rendezvous are not known, it is strongly believed that a certain Ms Padukone played a hand in the rapprochement.
