Salim Khan welcomes Bombay HC Verdict on Women in Haji Ali

29 Aug 2016

Bombay High Court lifted the ban imposed on women from entering the grave area of Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai this past weekend. After the HC's verdict was in women's favour, writer and Salman Khan's father Salim Khan welcomed the judgement stating that it endorsed what the Hadees and Quran say.

On August 26, Friday, Muslim clerics questioned the verdict and said that while they respect the court, the judgement goes against Islam. Talking about the verdict and support the decision, Salim Khan tweeted, "High court judgement on Haji Ali endorses what Hadees and Quran have said. To be a good Muslim, you have to be a good human being. Mazar & Durga are graves men & women both can visit them as there is no gender discrimination in Islam.

Salim Khan further added, "Mullas & Maulvis are complicating an uncomplicated religion like Islam. Even Fatwa is not a verdict as people think, its an opinion given by an Islamic scholar."
