Kangna Ranaut makes debut as a scriptwriter in Hansal Mehtas Simran

Kangna Ranaut is a talented star. The actress has always taken up meaty roles and given some incredible performances in the past. Now, Kangna Ranaut has opted for another meaty role in Hansal Mehtas upcoming comedy-drama, Simran.It turns out that Kangna will be credited as co-writer with script-writer Apurva Asrani. A very few people are aware that Kangna Ranaut has done a screenplay writing course in New York in the past. According to Hansal Mehta, when she was approached with the script, she loved it so much that she came onboard to co-write it with Apurva Asrani. Hansal called her an incredible talent. He said that he is happy that Kangna with her collaboration has helped make Simran a fun family film. He was very impressed with her since Queen and even more so because she had penned down some scenes and collaborated on the script of that lovely film. He is thankful that after Queen they have a similar collaboration in their film. Praising her writing skills, Hansal Mehta further added that Kangna must continue to write. He called her sharp, instinctive and someone who has a great sense of character. Besides Kangna Ranaut, Hansal Mehta has had long time collaboration with Apurva Asrani who was screenwriter-editor on Rajkummar Rao starrer Shahid.He also wrote story, screenplay, dialogues and helped in editing for Manoj Bajpayee starrer Aligarh which went on to become one of the highly appreciated films last year. He was the script advisor and editor on CityLights as well. Hansal Mehta said that Apurva is a fantastic talent and they all came together to make a wonderful film. They had made films together in the past and done work that were very proud of. He has a lot of regard and love for him and his talent. So, when Kangna Ranaut came on board to co-write, the credits were shared with grace, dignity and respect for each other as artists and their commitment to making Simran a special film experience. Speaking about working with Kangna Ranaut in Simran and that he would love to work in future again, he said that working with Kangana was intense and satisfying. He called her a fine artist and a unique talent who is deeply involved in the process of filmmaking. He asserted that Simran is a new journey in his career, one that he will always remember. Hansal Mehta also mentioned that he and his producing partner, Shailesh Singh offered to co-produce Kangna Ranauts directorial debut. Its going to be superbly compelling. He is still looking for a script that he can make next with her. It could be Simran sequel. Talking about Simran , Hansal Mehta concluded saying that it is a really fun, slice-of-life drama with a character that everybody will totally love.
