6 Feb 2023

At the event, Asha Parekh said, "Lata Mangeshkar was really good singer. I had worked really close with her. It was really difficult to lip-syncing her songs."Describing Lata Mangeskar as a gem of person, Kajol said, "Lata Mangeshkar ji was a gem of the music industry and she had sung lot of songs...she will always be in out hearts."Raveena took to Instagram and shared a few pictures with Asha Parekh, Hema Malini and Kajol."All about tonight! #legends in honour of #latamangeshkarji #ashaparekhji #hemaji," Raveena captioned the post.View this post on InstagramShared post on TimeBay County LibraryMusic composer Laxmikant Pyarelal was also present at the event to mark the first death anniversary of Lata Mangeshkar. The impact India's nightingale Lata Mangeshkar left on the world of music can be neither forgotten, nor replaced. She had an illustrious career spanning over seven decades, starting from her first break in the 1948 film, 'Majboor', with the song 'Dil Mera Toda, Mujhe Kahin Ka Na Chhora', with lyrics by Nazim Panipati. It can never be possible to pick and choose which songs were her best, as the versatility and emotions that she brought in with each and every song was unmatched.Though Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 after suffering a multi-organ failure, she will always stay alive in our hearts with her soulful songs such as 'Ajeeb Dastan Hai Ye', 'Ae Mere Watan Ke Logo', 'Lukka Chuppi' and 'Tere Liye', among others.

Had to sit in studio for entire day without going to bathroom: Asha Parekh on lack of sanitation facilities back in the day

27 Nov 2022

lack of sanitation facilities in the past."It would have been great to see the same technical superiority in our era that we have now. For example, I remember there was no concept of facilities like vanity vans during our time. Back then when we went for shoots, the studios didn't have bathrooms and we used to sit there the entire day without going to the bathroom. Thankfully, I didn't have any kidney-related problems," she quipped."Sometimes we even changed our clothes behind bushes," Asha Parekh added.Recently, veteran actor Jaya Bachchan also shared her struggles about not having proper toilets on film sets years ago. In one of the episodes of her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast, What The Hell Navya, Jaya opened up about how she had to change sanitary pads behind bushes as there was no concept of vanity vans and toilet facilities back in the day."When we used to do outdoors, we didn't have vans. We had to change behind the bushes. Everything. There were not even enough toilets. It was awkward and embarrassing. You used 3-4 sanitary pads and you carried plastic bags to discard the pads and put them in a basket so that when you get home, you can get rid of it," Jaya said."Can you imagine sitting down when you have 4-5 sanitary towels on you? It was really uncomfortable. And then you didn't have the kind of sanitary towels that you have today, you just stick it on. You had to make a belt with two ends, towels only had loops, to tie tape to it. It was really bad," she shared.Reportedly, it was veteran actress Poonam Dhillon and ex-husband Ashok Thakeria who introduced the concept of vanity vans in India.

Asha Parekh: I was very upset with those holiday pictures of ours. More than me, Waheeda Rehman and Helen were upset

26 May 2021

A while ago, holiday pictures of the three legends Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman and Helen who are inseparable friends, holidaying in the Andamans went viral.Asha Parekh, who is a very private person, is deeply affronted by the violation of their personal space. These pictures are from a holiday we took in the end of March in the Andamans just before the lockdown. We thought it was a very private vacation. We just wanted to get out. Relax. Weve no idea who took the pictures. It was probably some tourists. The place was swarming with vacationers. Aaj kal koi bhi photos le sakta hai bina ijaazat ke (nowadays, anyone can click your pictures without your consent), says the star angrily. On returning to Mumbai, the yesteryears screen queen was shocked when their holiday pictures went viral. More than me, Waheeda Rehman and Helen were upset. They are far more private people than me. People were sharing the pictures and saying the three of us should star in a sequel to Dil Chahta Hai. Why Dil Chahta Hai?I dont understand. It was more like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.Asha Parekh feels the era of social media has robbed public figures of their right to privacy. Anybody can click a selfie with you. Pehle autograph mangte the, abb selfie. When you are with your family or close friends such intrusion feels like a violation.Having said this, the screen diva admits she had fun at the Andaman islands. I went snorkeling with Waheeda for the first time. I had never done this before. Of course, I know how to swim. But Ive a deep fear of deep waters. Luckily, I braved it. The experience of going undersea and swimming with exotic fish is something everyone should try at least once in their lifetime.

Asha Parekh, Dharmendra recommend the vaccine strongly, Jaya done, Amitabh Bachchan soon

26 Mar 2021

With the rising cases of Covid19 in many parts of the country, including Maharashtra, the iconic senior Bollywood stars are being positioned as influencers for the Covid vaccine. Two legendary actors Asha Parekh and Dharmendra took the jab recently. And they both strongly recommend it.Says Asha Parekhji, It was painless and there were no side effects for me. I would say all citizens in the senior bracket must take the vaccine. There may have been some scattered reports of side effects here and there. But that is no cause for alarm. When we were young we were inoculated against small pox. That used to hurt a lot and there would be some fever also. If the same happens now, why panic? I am looking forward to my second dose.Says the gentle Dharmendra, Although I am in my farmhouse far removed from crowds. I still decided to take it. At least mentally I feel more protected now. The cases of Corona are rising. Now the Government has allowed people in the 40s to also take the vaccine. Dont think about it. Just take the plunge.Amitabh Bachchan is yet to take the vaccine, although his wife Jaya Bachchan has taken the vaccine.
