Ajay Devgn shares picture with Suriya from National film award ceremony

Deeply respect his talent & love his movies."Ajay won the Best Actor Award for 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'. This is his third Best Actor win. He has previously won the award for the 1998 film 'Zakhm' and 'The Legend Of Bhagat Singh', which was released in 2002.The ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Friday evening. Droupadi Murmu," the tweet further said.Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' is a historical-action film, which traces the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare. Om Raut helmed the project. Suriya, whose real name is Saravanan Sivakumar, won the National Award for his work in the film 'Soorarai Pottru' which is a dramatized portrayal of retired Army Captain GR Gopinath's life as the founder of the low-cost airline Air Deccan.Despite having a straight OTT release, the film was a big success, with fans flooding Twitter with rave reviews. Suriya and Guneet Monga both co-produced the film.'Soorarai Pottru' also received the National Award for Best Feature Film. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film also features Paresh Rawal and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles.Aparna Balamurali also received the National Award for Best Actress in the lead role for her performance in the film.'Soorarai Pottru' is currently being made in Hindi, with actors Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan in the lead roles. The release date of the film is still not announced.Also, at the 68th National Film Awards ceremony, legendary atress Asha Parekh received the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award for her exemplary lifetime contribution to Indian Cinema. 68th National Film Awards: 'Tanhaji' wins honour for wholesome entertainment

Released in the year 2020, 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' collected over Rs 368 crore worldwide at the box office and was declared the highest grosser of the year.Apart from that, Ajay Devgn also received the Best Actor Award for his performance in 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'.This marks the 'Golmaal' actor's third National award after 'Zakhm' in 1998 and 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh' in 2020.The 'Bhuj' actor shared the Best Actor National Award with south superstar Suriya, who received the same award for his performance in the film 'Soorarai Pottru'.A 10-member jury led by director-producer Vipul Shah met Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday morning to submit its report on the 68th National Film Awards.This year, there are 50 categories with over 300 feature films and 150 non-feature films competing for the prizes. There are 30 different languages in the movies.Apart from chairperson Shah, the jury members included cinematographer Dharam Gulati, National award-winning Bengali actor Sreelekha Mukherjee, cinematographer GS Bhaskar, A Karthikraaja, VN Aditya, Viji Thampi, Sanjeev Rattan, S Thangadurai and Nishigandha.Producer-director Vipul Shah told ANI, "It has been heartening to see the kind of response that was received and the number of films that we got to see. And these were very difficult COVID times during which these films were either made or being made."Chitrartha Singh who headed the non-feature jury stated, "We have been able to review close to 140 non-feature films including documentaries and it is amazing to see the kind of content that has come forth, especially from areas like the north-east."Journalist Anant Vijay chaired the Best Writing on Cinema category.

Kajal Aggarwal to star in Uma directed by Tathagata Singha

The film is a feel-good family drama, set in an aristocratic household with a wedding backdrop where the entire family assembles. The drama unfolds through the multifaceted characters in the house with the arrival of a stranger Uma.Kajal, who started her film career back in 2004 with Bollywood, has over the years emerged as one of the most formidable names in the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi film industries. She is looking forward to starting work on the new movie. Uma, produced by Avishek Ghosh (Avma Media) & Mantraraj Paliwal (Miraj Group) is slated to be shot in a start-to-finish schedule in the second half of 2021, keeping all Covid-19 protocols in consideration. Filmmaker and cinematographer KV Anand passes away at 54; tested COVID-19 positive

Filmmaker and cinematographer KV Anand passed away in Chennai after suffering from a stroke. The 54-year-old was known for his Tamil films like Ayan, Maattrraan, Kaappaan, among others. He has done the cinematography for films like The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Josh, Nayak:The Real Hero, Khakee and others. He received a National Film Award for Best Cinematographer in the year 1994 for his work in the Malayalam movie Thenmavin Kombath, starring Mohanlal, Shobana in the lead roles.Members of the film industry paid their respect to the filmmaker on social media. Allu Arjun, Prithviraj, Mohanlal, Tamannaah Bhatia, Rajinikanth and others paid tribute to KV Anand.Just woke up to this sad news that Dir KV Anand garu is no more. Wonderful cameraman , brilliant director and very nice gentleman.Sir you will always be remember & missed.Condolences to the near , dear & family.Rest in Peace Sir.Rest in peace K. V. Anand sir! During the time, Anand developed breathlessness and chest pain. Due to COVID-19 complications he suffered a massive heart attack.
