Trust Randeep Hooda to surprise the audience and his fans with every character that he decides to portray on screen. Set to pull off yet another interesting and remarkable role, producer Anand Pandit and Sandeep Singh announce Randeep as the lead of their film, Swatantra Veer Savarkar, the unsung hero of Indias freedom movement.Randeep Hooda to play the title role in Mahesh Manjrekars directorial Swatantra Veer SavarkarAfter the great success and critical acclaim of the film Sarabjit, producer Sandeep Singh reunites with internationally acclaimed Indian actor Randeep Hooda on his ambitious motion picture Swatantra Veer Savarkar. Randeep will be essaying the role of controversial freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The film is expected to go on floors from June 2022 and will be shot across various locations in London, Maharashtra, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The film will highlight India's freedom movement from a different spectrum. This untold story of Veer Savarkar will be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Mahesh V Manjrekar.Producer Sandeep Singh feels, There are very few actors in India who can create magic with his talent, and Randeep is one amongst them. Considering Veer Savarkar as one of the most controversial characters in Indian history, I could only think of Randeep. Veer Savarkar's contribution cannot be ignored, I wonder why our history books never mentioned Veer Savarkar?Producer Anand Pandit from Anand Pandit Motion Pictures says, Cinema is a creative medium that celebrates different thought processes. Films like Swatantra Veer Savarkar will help create a far more engaging public dialogue. With Mahesh and Randeep at the helm, I am sure, we will create something memorable for audiences.Director Mahesh V Manjrekar adds, This is the right time to tell the stories which we had ignored. Swatantra Veer Savarkar will be an edgy cinematic narrative that will force us to revisit our history. I have been wanting to collaborate with Sandeep Singh, and I am glad that we are doing this film together. The director has been working on this subject for almost a year with his research team.Randeep Hooda feels elated that he has been chosen to play the most influential yet forgotten hero of India's freedom movement. There are many heroes that have played their part in getting us our independence. However, not everyone has got their due. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated, and influential of these unsung heroes, and his story must be told. I am delighted to collaborate with Sandeep after Sarabjit, for Swatantra Veer Savarkar. It will be yet another challenging role to portray," he said.Swatantra Veer Savarkar is produced by Anand Pandit from Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Sandeep Singh and Sam Khan from Legend Studios and is co-produced by Roopa Pandit and Jay Pandya.
Director Mahesh Manjrekar and the producer of the Marathi film Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha has been granted protection from Bombay High Court from arrest for shooting obscene shot involving minors.Today at the hearing, the court directed the police not to take any action against the director of the movie and the team. Earlier an FIR was registered against them under the provision of POCSO.Adv Swapnil Mabure along with Adv Ravi Suryavanshi led by Sr. Adv Ponda said that the court has protected the producers and the director of the movie and it took the notice that the trailer was taken down after the objections by CBFSs Censor Certification.Earlier, Mahesh Manjrekar filed a petition in the high court seeking for the case and sought interim protection from arrest and the bench headed by Justice S S Shinde, however, refused to pass any order and adjourned the case.
Actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar has run into legal trouble after a case was registered against him over the alleged portrayal of minors in objectionable light in his upcoming film Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha. It has been alleged that the film features minors in obscene scenes. The case has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). Along with Mahesh, producers, Narendra, Shreyans Hirawat and NH Studioz have also been mentioned in the complaint.Several reports suggest the case has been filed by the President of the NGO Bharatiya Stree Shakti, Seema Deshpande under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 292, 34, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Section 14 and Sections 67, 67B of the IT Act. Deshpande alleged that the film depicts sexual activities featuring minors and their aunt. Furthermore, she said that it also depicts violence involving children and the vulgar dialogues in the film. SMahesh Manjrekar told a publication that the film was censored by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He also said that he will cooperate with the investigation and his lawyers will respond to the case.
Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi film Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Na Koncha has landed in trouble ahead of its release. After the National Commission of Women (NCW) demanded a censor on the trailer of the film, the National Commission for Protection of Childs (NCPCR) has written to the Director-General of Police (DGP) Maharashtra and has asked for an FIR to be registered against the makers of the movie. The NCPCR sent the notice based on a complaint that alleged that the portrayal of minors committing illegal and unlawful acts in the trailer falls under Section 2(c) of The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. The trailer allegedly also violates section 292 of the IPC which deals with production, distribution, and selling of obscene material, section 13 of the POCSO Act i.e. Protection of Child From Sexual Offense Act, 2012, which deals with the use of a child for pornographic purposes, and Section 67 of the Information and Technology Act, 2000.The child rights commission said that there is a need to investigate the content of the film. They also said that there was a need to lodge an FIR under the POCSO Act 2012 and other relevant sections as the actors used in this film for performing the above said scenes are all minors which is considered an offence under Section 11 and Section 13 of POCSO Act 2012.After the controversy, the makers pulled down the trailer of the film. The film directed by Manjrekar was all set to release today.
Fans of Salman Khan have been happy with his no-nonsense avatar in the recent release, Antim The Final Truth. They also gave credit to director Mahesh Manjrekar, for extracting a fine performance from the star. In recent times, Salman has shined when he has collaborated with reputed and talented directors like Ali Abbas Zafar (in Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai), Kabir Khan (in Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan), etc. Bollywood Hungama has now found out that the superstar some time back was in talks with another brilliant filmmaker for an interesting project. That filmmaker is none other than Neeraj Pandey, who celebrates his birthday today.A source told Bollywood Hungama, Neeraj Pandey had once offered a script to Salman Khan. The name of the film was Zindabaad. Like some of Neerajs ventures, this one, too, was based on global terrorism. It had something to do with the Taliban and how the terror outfit kidnaps the character, which was to be essayed by Salman. How Salman escapes from the clutches of the Taliban formed the crux of the film.Sadly, Zindabaad never took off and the reasons are not known. An industry insider said, This seemed like a very promising subject. Neeraj Pandey has certain sensibilities and it is nice to see how he merges content with entertainment. His films like Special 26 (2013) and Baby (2015) were much loved. Special 26, in fact, gave a new direction to Akshay Kumars career. The same can be said about the Special Ops web series, created by Neeraj Pandey and which turned the tide for Kay Kay Menon. Who knows, if both had joined hands that too for such a large-scale subject, it could have hugely benefited both. Nevertheless, heres hoping Zindabaad materializes someday.Neeraj Pandey became an overnight sensation with the sleeper hit, A Wednesday (2008). He then followed it up with films like Special 26, Baby, M S Dhoni - The Untold Story (2016), etc. In between, he also produced acclaimed films like Rustom (2016) and Toilet - Ek Prem Katha (2017). Last year, he made his mark in the webspace with Special Ops (2020). Its sequel, Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story (2021), was released last month and received favourable reviews. Next year, Neeraj Pandey will be seen as the producer of Vikram Vedha, starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan.
Salman Khan is currently busy promoting his recently released film Antim-The Final Truth. The film directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and co-starring Aayush Sharma is the superstar's first theatrical release post the pandemic.Salman Khan also has Tiger 3 in the pipeline, the shoot of which is underway. The Tiger series sees him play the role of a RAW agent Tiger. Now, the actor has confirmed that he will be seen playing the role of real-life Indian spy agent Ravindra Kaushik in a film which will be co-produced by his sister Alvira Agnihotri and his brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. Earlier this year, there were reports of the actor bringing the story of agent Kaushik on screen and now he has confirmed the same. This will be the first time in his 3-decade-long career that Salman will be seen essaying a real-life character. Reportedly, the film will be set in the era of the 70s and 80s and will be a dramatic thriller. For the unversed, Agent Ravindra Kaushik is regarded as India's best spy to ever penetrate the ranks of the Pakistan Army. Popularly known as Black Tiger, Kaushik loved theatre and performing on stage, which led to the RAW spotting him and utilizing his talents for the country. He was sent to Pakistan, where he completed his LLB and joined the army, and became a commissioned officer. From 1979 to 1983 he passed on critical information to the Indian defense forces which were of great help.
