Imran Khan feels nostalgic about his last release 'Katti Batti'

27 Oct 2023

Imran Khan penned down an emotional note about his experience of filming his last release 'Katti Batti,' which came out in 2015.Imran took to Instagram on Friday to post a string of pictures from the sets of 'Katti Batti.'"I've been dragging my feet as I got closer to posting Katti Batti. When we started shooting, I had no idea that it would be my last time facing the camera; I did know that it had been two years since my last outing, and the pressure to deliver a successful film was huge. Our first schedule took us to Flame University Pune, where the students and faculty welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to basically take over the campus for our shoot! It was a lot of fun, and really helped to establish the chemistry between the cast.""And what a great cast we had, there were so many talented people on set. Director @nikkhiladvani impressed me with his deft and seemingly effortless style of management. @kanganaranaut impressed everyone with her dedication to realism, diving deep into medical research for her character's illness. @mipalkarofficial was so endearing that I still instinctively think of her as my little sister! And my onscreen bestie @sahabime is now part of my offscreen family," he concluded. He added, "It's easy to dismiss Katti Batti, because the premise is kind of far-fetched; a dying girl, desperate to shield the guy she loves from being hurt, orchestrates a massive lie to cover up her illness. Realistic? Maybe not. But there was something about Madhav that spoke to me.I saw him as an old-fashioned romantic, a guy who knows his heart. Surrounded by people who are concealing the truth and trying to gaslight him, his love for Payal is unshakeable; even as the world around him starts to crumble, he holds his course, following his North Star. He wants every second of time he can have with the one he loves."He concluded, "I poured my heart into Maddy, hoping that his strength of conviction would resonate with viewers. And I think my heart broke a little bit when the film bombed immediately upon release."'Katti Batti,' directed by Nikhil Advani, also starred him alongside Kangana Ranaut.Imran made his foray into acting with the hit film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' in 2008. After featuring in films like 'Kidnap, 'Luck', ' Delhi Belly', 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', 'Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu', 'Break ke Baad', 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara', and 'I Hate Love Storys' among others, Imran disappeared from the public eye and quit acting. His last release was 'Katti Batti' in 2015.

"I was told heroines look bigger than you...": Imran Khan reveals he took steroids to bulk up

6 Oct 2023

. "I'm one of those hyper-metabolic people, my body just burns through whatever I consume. Oh no, what a terrible affliction! In my late teens, guys around me started joining gyms and working out. They started to expand, their biceps stretching the sleeves of their t-shirts. I wore a size S, and my sleeves were still loose," he said about his body type."I didn't need to be muscular to play Jai Singh Rathore (his character in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa)... but I was convinced that I was too skinny, which is why Jai mostly wears two layers of clothing throughout Jaane Tu. For my next film, Kidnap, I hit the gym in earnest, and began my journey with body building," he revealed. He further recalled how people used to pass nasty comments at him as he was skinny.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Imran Khan (@imrankhan)"Over the next few years, the sculpting and maintenance of my body became part of my lifestyle. I worked out regularly, but still I would hear 'So... you'll bulk up a bit before we start shooting, right?'; 'You're looking weak', 'You look like a little boy, not a man', and 'The heroine looks bigger than you' (ouch for both of us)," he added.Opening up about taking steroids to bulk up, Imran shared, "Exercise means nothing without nutrition; 6 meals a day, totalling 4000 calories. Chicken breast, egg whites, sweet potato, oats, flax seeds... all good stuff, but still not enough to make my biceps look like the heroes I saw onscreen. No, for that I needed to supplement with whey protein, creatine, leucine, glutamine, L-carnitine... and ultimately, even anabolic steroids. Shock and horror! We're not supposed to admit that part out loud, it could totally ruin the illusion."The actor also said that in recent years, as he battled depression and stopped working out, he became skinnier. "When I was photographed, it sparked a media discussion about my wellbeing, and speculations of drug abuse! I felt deeply ashamed, embarrassed to be seen by anyone in this state. So I retreated further. It's been an uphill journey, but these days I'm doing better than ever; I exercise with my old friend who puts my health first and only feeds me supplements like walnuts and turmeric... seriously. And while I'm still a tad jealous of those dudes with superhero muscles... I don't feel bad about myself," Imran concluded.Imran's post has garnered several reactions."more power to you, sir. your posts feel like a warm hug to me, really. thankyou for being so vulnerable with us, thankyou for being you," a social media user commented."As someone who's skinny, hypermetabolic and wants to gain weight and be muscular for her profession, I feel so seen. I've been constantly told that I look sickly, and after a point, concern turns into ignorance. Thank you for sharing your story with us :) I hope I get to achieve a state where I feel healthy as well. Sending you lots of love," another Instagram user wrote.Imran made his foray into acting with the hit film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' in 2008. "Take a look at my face...": Imran Khan shares pictures from sets of 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein'

26 Sep 2023

Imran Khan posted throwback pictures from the sets of 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein'. On Tuesday, he took to Instagram and shared behind-the-scenes photos from the shooting of the film. He can be seen with director Punit Malhotra and actor Kareena Kapoor in the clicks. He wrote a long post that read, "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein was launched with much enthusiasm. It would be my second time working with director @punitdmalhotra and also my second time sharing the screen with @kareenakapoorkhan so there was a sense of comfort and optimism. Our first schedule was in Bengaluru, a city very dear to me; I attended The Valley School there for a few years, and many of my core memories feature Brigade road, Nagarjuna's chilli chicken, and the legendary Corner House (Cake Fudge gang unite!). The Bengaluru shoot was a blast, particularly 'Dhat Teri Ki'."He also revealed that he was shooting 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaraa' at the same time."You may be surprised to learn that most of the remaining scenes were shot on sets in Film City Mumbai... the village set, in fact, was built in the same place that years before had been the site of the Mall Road set from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander! It was also conveniently located across the street from the massive set constructed for OUATIM. I remember shooting 'Tayyab Ali' during the days, then peeling off my mustache while I walked across the street to shoot night scenes for Gori," he added. He concluded, "The summer of 2013 was one of the most gruelling, exhausting periods of my life, as I juggled my time completing these two films. But take a look at my face in every one of these pictures; you can tell I was having fun." Netizens praised Imran's character and chemistry with Kareena in the comment section. A user wrote, "Your character was a lot of fun in this one, and the music was great!"Another fan commented, "Papa, Gear maa daalun?? Love the onscreen chemistry you share with Kareena, our lovely Sriram and Dia."'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' was directed by Punit Malhotra and Kareena Kapoor was the female lead. Meanwhile, on the work front, Imran was last seen in 'Katti Batti' alongside Kangana Ranaut in 2015.After that, Imran disappeared from the public eye and quit acting.

Imran Khan reveals Ajay Devgn was first choice for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola

18 Sep 2023

It was a film about greed, the economic exploitation of farmers, and the menace of unregulated development. It struck a chord with me, but I was hesitant; I would have to learn Haryanvi, and be ready to roll in less than three months! How on earth was I to pull this off?, the caption further reads.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Imran Khan (@imrankhan)Helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj, apart from Imran the film also starred Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapur in the lead roles. The Luck actor also revealed that he moved to Delhi to prepare for his character. He wrote, To accomplish this, I moved to Delhi and started intensive workshops with the legendary NK Sharma and some of his students. Panditji, as we affectionately called him, was the first person to point out the negative Voice in my head. "You only listen to the voice that tells you you are worthless", he told me, "why do you disrespect the thousands of voices that say they love you?". I listened to his words, but I didn't really hear them.I was anxious and terrified through the shoot of the film. I couldn't shake the feeling that Vishal had never really wanted me for this part, that my casting was based more on the budget that my presence could afford than the director's belief in me. And so it came to be that once we wrapped the shoot, I turned tail and ran, never looking back. I didn't even watch the final cut of the film when it was done, the caption further reads.Imran further called Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola a bold experiment and how he used to train to ride a motorcycle during Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu shoot.Having a surreal, absurdist tone, the film was pretty well skewered upon release... but what can I say, I'm proud as hell of this movie. It was a bold experiment, a story that absolutely needed to see the light of day, and I consider it my privilege to have been a part of the team that made it happen, he added.PS. I couldn't ride a motorcycle when I signed on, so I had to take lessons. I learned to ride Matru's Bullet in between shots while filming the 'Auntyji' song from EMAET, the caption concluded.

"His forearms are as thick as my calves": Imran Khan on working with Khiladi Kumar in 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara'

16 Sep 2023

Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara', which was released in 2013.In the film, Imran shared screen space with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. As he took a stroll down memory lane, he shared how Akshay's fitness left him awestruck."The film was not very well received upon release, and I shouldered most of the responsibility... but that never tarnished the affection I felt for my team mates. @akshaykumar was the very definition of Movie Star cool, and is probably the strongest human being I've met in real life... this dude's forearms are as thick as my calves, seriously," Imran said.He also heaped praises on Sonakshi, saying she is "fearless"."And I loved @aslisona from the first day. Fearless and unrestrained as an actor, and utterly devoid of any self-importance," Imran added. He also shared an interesting revelation. In the post, he shared that he shot some portions for the film in hair extensions and glued-on mustache."I was excited about the retro vibe of the film, and I took a lot of styling cues from Anil Kapoor (Mashaal) and Jackie Shroff (Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri) in their 80's glory. I grew out my sideburns and mustache in an attempt to be authentic... but it was not to be. While I was initially scheduled to wrap shooting on this film in January 2013, and begin the shoot for Gori Tere Pyaar Mein the next month, the schedules stretched till August of that year, and we were still on set filming scenes two weeks before release! This meant that after filming about 30% of my scenes, I had to shave and get a haircut so I could start GTPM, and complete the rest of OUATIM with hair extensions, fake sideburns and a glued-on moustache. It's easy to catch, now that you're looking for it," he said. The film is the sequel to the superhit 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai' which had starred Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi.

Actor Imran Khan takes dig at trollers in fun way

5 Sep 2023

Imran Khan thanked his fans for their love and support over the past several weeks and said that he was looking for ugly comments because he was overwhelmed by all the affection from fans.Imran took to Instagram and penned down a lengthy note with a picture of himself. He can be seen putting water on himself in the picture. He wrote, Trigger Warning Self Harm. Sorry about the silence... when you've lived so long in darkness, the sunshine can feel unbearably bright at first. I've been flooded with so many messages of love, support, and encouragement that it felt weird. Unnatural. I couldn't absorb that much positivity, so instead I went looking for the ugly words, the hurtful ones that sound more like the Voice in my head, because that feels more familiar to me. I checked Reddit (still reliable), the comments sections of news articles, wherever I could find words sharp enough to cut myself with.He added, And then a funny thing happened. There I was, poking and slicing away trying to feel 'normal', but somehow the edges of the words seemed less sharp... the tips less pointy. They weren't drawing blood the way they used to. They just didn't work anymore. And I think I know why.We all have scars, old wounds that still ache. But love heals. Love is empowering and uplifting, and if you are fortunate enough to receive the kind of love that I have, I think it starts to fill in those scars. It covers you in a layer of protective armour. You may never fully grasp the extent to which your love empowers me, but know that I am grateful. You make me feel 304.8 cm tall, he concluded.Imran made his foray into acting with the hit film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' in 2008. The audience was crazy about Imran Khan and he had a lot of female fans in the late 2000s and early 2010s, all thanks to his charming looks. After featuring in films like 'Kidnap, 'Luck', ' Delhi Belly', 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', 'Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu', 'Break ke Baad', Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara, and 'I Hate Love Storys' among others, Imran disappeared from the public eye and quit acting. His last release was Katti Batti in 2015. A few years ago, he was in the news for his marriage with Avantika hitting a rough patch. The two are parents to an 8-year-old daughter Imara.

It was shot over 4 consecutive night shifts, while I was also spending the day shifts shooting the music videos for Nakkaddwaley Disco and Switty from Delhi Belly at the same time! I would sleep in my car, while being driven between the two sets. Hectic, but totally worth it.'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', the romantic-comedy movie starring Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan, and Ali Zafar marked his first directorial project, after being an assistant director in Yash Raj Films (YRF).The 'Jaane Tu...
