17 Apr 2024

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 17 : Extending her wishes on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, actor Kangana Ranaut, who forayed into electoral politics after being named the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Himachal's Mandi, also reminisced about her visit to Ayodhya for the 'Pran Pratishtha' or the ceremonial enthronement of Ram Lalla at his grand abode.Taking to her Instagram handle, Kangana shared a video clip of her visit to the Ram Temple on the day of the grand opening of the shrine on January 22, this year. The video clip she shared not only showcased the grandeur of the temple but also featured snippets of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rousing address to the packed audience, including top dignitaries from diverse fields, at the inauguration ceremony."After 500 years, the auspicious moment has arrived when for the first time, Ram Lalla is celebrating Ram Navami in his grand temple," Kangana posted from her Instagram handle.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Kangana Ranaut (@kanganaranaut)PM Modi observed an 11-day 'Anusthan' leading up to the grand 'Pran Pratishtha', during which he followed a rigorous personal routine while visiting shrines across the country associated with Lord Ram. He was also the Jajman at the enthronement ceremony and performed the rituals under the watchful eyes of a select complement of priests and seers picked from across the country.Kangana's nomination from her hometown Mandi adds a layer of intrigue to the electoral contest for a constituency that has been a traditional Congress stronghold. However, between the actor-turned-politician and her bid to make it to the Lok Sabha stands a formidable challenger in the form of Congress MLA and minister and son of long-time late former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Vikramaditya Singh. All four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal will go to polls on June 1, while polling will simultaneously be held for six Assembly seats that fell vacant following the disqualification of six dissident Congress MLAs.The BJP, which bagged all four seats in Himachal in 2019, is bidding for an encore this year. The Mandi constituency is considered a bastion of the Virbhadra family. The seat, currently held by Pratibha Devi Singh, the late leader's widow, saw an Assembly bye-election in 2021 following the demise of BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma. On the work front, Kangana will be next seen in 'Emergency', which also marks her first solo directorial.

It is something that I cherish all my life."Ranaut's visit to Dharamshala underscored her spiritual inclination and garnered attention amidst her political pursuits. The 'Panga' actor also shared a post on her Instagram handle about the same. The decision of Kangana Ranaut to contest from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, a region with historical political significance, adds a layer of intrigue to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The seat, currently held by Pratibha Devi Singh, the late leader's wife, witnessed a bye-election in 2021 following the demise of BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma. On the work front, Kangana will be next seen in 'Emergency', which also marks her first solo directorial.

"I am a proud Hindu": Kangana Ranaut shuts down 'baseless' beef eating rumours

8 Apr 2024

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 8 : Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut clarified on Monday that she neither consumes beef nor any other kind of red meat, saying that she is a "proud Hindu". "I don't consume beef or any other kind of red meat, it is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me, I have been advocating and promoting yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won't work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them, Jai Shri Ram," Kangana said in a post on X on Monday. Kangana's post comes after 'rumours' spread online claiming that the actress eats beef. Some users on social media even dug out an old tweet of Kangana from 2019, in which she had written about her yogic lifestyle. However, the post wasn't worded in the first person. It said, "There is nothing wrong with eating beef or eating any other meat. It's not about religion! It's not a hidden fact that Kangana turned vegetarian 8 years ago and chose to be a yogi. She still doesn't believe in just one religion. On the contrary, her brother eats meat." Earlier, Maharashtra Leader of Opposition, Vijay Wadettiwar, also alleged that Kangana Ranaut had once tweeted that she liked and consumed beef and the party has now given her a ticket to contest the upcoming elections. Kangana recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party has fielded Kangana from the Mandi constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta's own party, Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Lok Sabha candidate from my birth place Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency) I abide by the high command's decision on contesting Lok Sabha polls. I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to be a worthy karyakarta and a reliable public servant," Ranaut wrote in a post on X while announcing her political foray. "No country treats pornstars like we do...": Kangana addresses past comment on Urmila Matondkar

27 Mar 2024

Kangana Ranaut, who is set to mark her electoral debut from Himachal's Mandi in the ensuing general elections, on Wednesday opened up on a past comment on fellow Bollywood colleague Urmila Matondkar, in which she addressed the latter as a 'softcore porn actress'.Speaking at the Times Now Summit on Wednesday, Kangana addressed her past comment, which evoked trolling from netizens."Is soft porn or pornstar an objectionable term? No! It is not an objectionable term. It is a word that is not socially acceptable. Humare desh mein jitna pornstar ko respect milta hai, puchiye (former adult film star) Sunny Leone se, utna respect poore world mein kisiko nahi mil sakta (No other country treats porn stars with suh respect as we do...you can ask Sunny Leone," Kangana said. I was asked to comment on Urmila ji (Matondkar) asking on what basis was the BJP considering me for a foray into politics. That was her question. I believe there are different realms of art. Sensational art, the one we refer to as massy art, which only titillates or physically stimulates you, that is also an art form. However, that can never be superior to the art that is intellectually motivating, one which stimulates your mind. I personally believe that I belong to that balanced cinema artiste tribe. I have never done item numbers. So, all I said was that if she could join a party (Congress) with her kind of filmography, then I have a more ravishing body of work. In fact, what I am saying is why being a pornstar socially acceptable and not a prostitute? Why do we have this kind of mindset for prostitutes while we accept pornstars socially? Is it because they have more money? Do they have (more) glamour? We don't treat prostitutes the same way as pornstars."Urmila made her political debut as a Congress candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha election from the Mumbai North constituency. However, she resigned from the Congress after a brief dalliance and joined the Shiv Sena in 2020.Earlier, in 2020, Urmila hit out at Kangana for allegedly disrespecting Jaya Bachchan, after the veteran actor claimed that the entire film industry was being 'tarnished' in a 2020 speech in Parliament. In an interview Urmila said, "Kangana wasn't even born when Jaya-ji found fame in the film industry. We're talking about a lady here (Jaya Bachchan) who has been an icon. Which part of Indian culture tells you to lash out at people like this?" To this, Kangana issued a statement earlier that read, "I saw one very derogatory interview given by Urmila Matondkar. The way she was talking about me, pulling faces, making a mockery about my struggles, attacking me on the fact that I am trying to appease the BJP for a ticket. One doesn't have to be a genius to figure that for me it is not very difficult to get a ticket. Urmila is a soft porn star. She is not known for her acting for sure, what is she known for? For doing soft porn right. If she could get a ticket, why wouldn't I get a ticket?"

"Ye Congress ke dimag waali Mandi nahi...": Kangana Ranaut hits out at Supriya Shrinate

27 Mar 2024

Kangana Ranaut, who is the BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday responded to controversial comments made from Congress leader Supriya Srinate's social media handle and said that alignment of Congress is such "that they disrespect women".Supriya Srinate, who is chairperson Social Media and Digital Platforms of Congress, later said that the derogatory remarks had not been made by her.Speaking at the Times Now Summit on Wednesday, Kangana referred to the post and said she felt hurt that Mandi, a district in Himachal Pradesh, is being associated with such words. She also said that people of Himachal have been hurt."I felt very sad. We have been working for women empowerment. It has been a fight for me to bring about a certain sense of dignity, respect and equality for women. Such comments take us back from such issues. This is like the mentality that 'she is asking for it'. This was very alarming content and I was more hurt that Mandi is being associated with such words. I would like to tell you that Mandi was named after a rishi called Mandav Rishi," Kangana said."Ye jo Mandi hai na, Congress ke logo ke dimag mein chalti rahti hai na, ye voo wali Mandi nahi hai (The mandi that goes on in the minds of Congress people, this is not that mandi). This is Rishi Mandav's Mandi," she added. As the controversy raged about comments from her social media handle, Shrinate on Monday clarified that she could never make such personal and indecent comments about any woman."Many people have access to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. Someone from them made an extremely inappropriate post today. As soon as I came to know, I deleted that post. Everyone who knows me also knows very well that I can never make personal and indecent comments towards any woman. I wanted to know how this happened," she said.Referring to the post from Shrinate's handle, Kangana had earlier said every woman deserves dignity."Dear Supriya ji, in the last 20 years of my career as an artist, I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii," Ranaut had said in a post on X.BJP leaders had strongly condemned Shrinate over the remarks and demanded action from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Kangana made her acting debut in 2006 with film 'Gangster: A Love Story', co-starring Emraan Hashmi. Since then she delivered some path-breaking performances and received various accolades for her acting in films like 'Fashion', 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', 'Tanu Weds Manu', among others.Kangana garnered critical acclaim for her film 'Queen', for which she also co-wrote the dialogues.
