"I was far cooler than Aisha, amazed by love I still receive": Konkona Sensharma reflects on 'Wake Up Sid'

13 Jan 2024

"I am always amazed by the love I get for 'Wake Up Sid.' I can't tell you, for Aisha Banerjee, for the 'Ektara' song, people are still sending me DMs. They are singing 'Ektara' and saying, 'This is for you, Konkona.' It's very touching. I appreciate it because I haven't done commercial films like that," Konkona said.Konkona went on to discuss how much she related to her character from the movie, Aisha Banarjee, an aspiring writer. "I thought I was far cooler than Aisha, but I liked working on that because Ayan Mukerji, who was the director and writer, was only 25-26. He was such a good writer-director, and the script was so nuanced. He had thought through everything so well. It was a delight to work with Ranbir and Ayan. They were already friends," Konkona said.Konkona praised her co-star Ranbir Kapoor, who has been to a film school and possessed the technical knowledge of camera placement."I was asking something to Anil Mehta, who is a famous DOP and Ranbir answered finally. I was really impressed about his camera knowledge," Konkona added.Recently, Konkona and Ranbir collaborated on an ad that evoked many memories and prompted fans to ask for a sequel to the Ayan Mukerji directorial.Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal,' while Konkona is featuring in 'Killer Soup' with Manoj Bajpayee, streaming on an OTT platform.

On her 44th birthday, Rani Mukerji opens up about how she envisions her journey in cinema

22 Mar 2022

Rani Mukerji, who has given the Indian film industry some of the most memorable movies of all time including 'Mardaani', 'Black', 'No One Killed Jessica', 'Hum Tum' and 'Yuva', turned 44 on Monday. One of the most celebrated actors, Rani's career began in the mid-90s and she quickly shot to fame with films like 'Ghulam' and 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. With movies like 'Hum Tum', 'Saathiya', 'Veer-Zaara' and 'Bunty Aur Babli', the actor solidified her place in the industry. Apart from giving the Indian cinema some acting gems, the actor also featured in some of the most popular tracks over the years including 'Aati Kya Khandala', 'Chupke Se', 'Hadh Kar Di Aapne', 'Say Shava Shava' and 'Jee Le Zaraa'. On her 44th birthday, Rani opened up about her plans to handpick the best scripts going forward and how she is excited to find movies that are about "hope and love" like 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway'.Talking about her journey so far, Rani said, "It has been an exhilarating journey in cinema so far for me and I hope that it remains the same in the years to come. I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with some of the best minds in the form of directors, producers, actors and technicians who have pushed me to excel on-screen and reinvent myself every single time."She added, "I want to continue doing that with every project because I always want to push my boundaries to see where I land. I always knew that my journey will be tough but I sailed through the last 25 years with the audience's love by my side and my hard work and perseverance."The actor further said, "I have never accepted to be typecast or fit in a mould. I have always tried to be part of meaningful films with a very strong female protagonist at the centre of the story. I wanted to be a part of good films with important stories about Indian women. There have been times where I have been blessed with films that have worked and some that missed to make a mark with the audience but I think that's the best part about our industry. You win some and lose some and that helps you to grow from strength to strength to carve a special place as an individual artiste in a cutthroat industry like ours."About her next outing, 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway', helmed by Ashima Chibber, Rani said, "My next project Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway is a film very close to my heart. I'm hoping that the story of this film will resonate with every Indian the way it did for me and my team. It's an incredible story of human resilience that will appeal to audiences across the country and across every age group."She added, "I'm very emotionally invested in this story as it connected with me as an actor and a mother. These are stories that need to be told. I really hope my next few years in cinema is studded with more such brilliant scripts. I'm hungry for them because these films not only entertain audiences but also deliver a great message to people. I want to do movies that are about hope and love."Rani was last seen in 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' opposite Saif Ali Khan. The film, which released last year, marked their on-screen reunion after more than a decade. Directed by Varun V Sharma, the film also featured Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh.

29 Jul 2021

Updated: Jul 29, 2021 - 9:36 AM IST They say, nothing is better than a group of three besties, SonyLIVs upcoming Marathi series Shantit Kranti, is all set to roll out a story that defines ultimate friendship goals. 3 best friends Shreyas, Dinar and Prasanna, one road trip, truck-loads of humour, emotions and a journey of self-discovery. Shantit Kranti which signifies the epitome of peace and wellbeing is a story that will showcase deep-rooted friendships in an absolute classic way that is sure to connect with viewers across demographics. Adding perspective and peace to this beautiful evolution of a cheerful camaraderie among the three protagonists, the show also marks the debut of Bollywood actor Shikha Talsania, in Marathi cinema.Portraying the role of a Yoga practitioner, Shikha plays a prominent role in Shantit Kranti. In a show filled with moments of awe, laughter, and joy, her character stands out as someone who throws light on the importance of meditation and mental well-being, breaking all stereotypes of how a typical Yoga Practitioner is perceived to be. Her newest, larger-than-life avatar, brings out hard-hitting elements about friendships and life in general to ponder upon. The biggest hurdle while preparing for this role was not knowing the language. However, her commitment to this role is highly commendable as she learnt to speak Marathi with less than a week of training, making her flawless on-screen presence and her command over the language is definitely praiseworthy.Shikha Talsania shares, It has been an exhilarating experience shooting for SK! Initially, it was challenging to perform while speaking a language that I wasnt very comfortable with. In such cases, you dont trust your own improvisation or if an actor changes one of the cues, you're completely lost. But I had the best coach, Chetan, who is also one of the writers of the show, he was extremely patient, very encouraging, and literally helped me pick up the language with ease. Having said that, I also had the best directors, co-actors, and the entire team that truly watched out for me and guided me with my pronunciations etc. Im excited to start a journey with SonyLIV by being part of a fun-filled project that helped me look beyond and learn.Introducing popular Marathi actors - Abhay Mahajan (Shreyas), Alok Rajwade (Dinar), and Lalit Prabhakar (Prasanna) in the lead roles, Shantit Kranti is directed by Sarang Sathaye and Paula McGlynn.Shantit Kranti will make you plan a reunion with your friends, immediately.
