Vivek Agnihotris The Kashmir Files passed with an A certificate and 7 minor cuts by CBFC; name of the university changed from JNU to ANU

8 Mar 2022

This week will see the release of the much-awaited Prabhas-Pooja Hegde starrer, Radhe Shyam. However, this big-budget love story wont be a solo release as Vivek Agnihotri would also be releasing The Kashmir Files this Friday, on March 11. The films theme and the trailer have caught the attention and trade expects that it has the potential to emerge as a sleeper hit, just like the predecessor, The Tashkent Files (2019).BREAKING: Vivek Agnihotris The Kashmir Files passed with an A certificate and 7 minor cuts by CBFC; name of the university changed from JNU to ANUKYF has now found out that the film, based on the Kashmiri Pandits persecution, has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an adults-only certificate. However, the film suffered 7 cuts, albeit minor ones.A visual of the Indian national flag falling on the ground was asked to be removed. Similarly, the photo of an ex-Prime Minister of India in a dreaded terrorists house was deleted. The logo of a television channel was removed while the word rape was blurred as seen on a university floor and wall poster at three places. The word Disco CM was axed and the words Pandit and Hindu were deleted wherever these terms were associated with cuss words. Lastly, the name of the university, shown in the film, has been changed from JNU to ANU.When contacted, writer-director Vivek Agnihotri exclusively told KYF that the examining committee of the CBFC had initially asked for a long list of cuts and that he had to fight it out. He said, For instance, (the examining committee) had issues with the word Islamic terrorist. More than two dozen cuts were issued in all. However, I argued and showed them the documents and proof to support my point. Eventually, they allowed the film without these cuts. How can they dispute the facts after all? Vivek Agnihotri said that this whole process of convincing the CBFC members took around two months. When asked about changing the name of the university to ANU, Vivek Agnihotri replied, There were a lot of arguments done on this aspect. Then, I realized that changing the universitys name from JNU to ANU is not going to dilute the essence of the film. Also, I didnt want to unnecessarily surround myself with court cases. Hence, I decided to make the change. The makers of The Kashmir Files were handed over the censor certificate on November 3, 2021. The final duration of the film is 170 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 50 minutes. It stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi and Puneet Issar.

Radhe Shyam makers voluntarily shorten the film by 12 minutes; Prabhas-Pooja Hegde starrer is now 138 minutes long

8 Mar 2022

Superstar Prabhas won everyones hearts with his act in Bahubali The Beginning (2015). With Baahubali 2 The Conclusion (2017), he achieved greater heights and turned into a pan-India superstar. This was reflected in the huge opening of his next film, Saaho (2019). As a result, the expectations are tremendous from his next film, Radhe Shyam. The grandeur and scale of this multi-lingual film have made it clear that this is a film that is meant for the big screen.Radhe Shyam makers voluntarily shorten the film by 12 minutes; Prabhas-Pooja Hegde starrer is now 138 minutes longKYF has now found out that the Telugu version of the film was recently trimmed by 12 minutes. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had granted the film a U/A certificate on December 22, 2021. At that point, the duration of the film was 150 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 30 minutes.Last week, the Radhe Shyam makers decided to voluntarily cut several scenes and also add some sequences to the film for a better impact. As per the voluntary modification list submitted to the CBFC, as many as 56 modifications have been carried out. Out of these, nearly 49 are cuts that have been made by the makers. While a few scenes are cut by just 2 or 5 or 11 seconds, a couple of sequences cut are of 2 minutes and even 5 minutes. Meanwhile, additions were made at 7 places. Scenes amounting to 5.30 minutes, 2.55 minutes and 2.16 seconds have been incorporated into the movie, besides a few shots that are around 8 or 10 seconds long.Through this exercise, the Radhe Shyam makers removed 23 minutes of footage and added scenes totalling 11 minutes. The final duration of Radhe Shyam is now 138 minutes. In other words, the Prabhas-Pooja Hegde starrer is now 2 hours and 18 minutes long. As per sources, similar changes have been made in the Hindi version as well.Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, Radhe Shyam tells the story of a mysterious palmist and is set in the 1970s. Trade and exhibition sector believes that the shortened version of Radhe Shyam would benefit the film as the multiplexes would be able to incorporate more shows now.

Radhe Shyam to have a special show in SECOND LARGEST IMAX screen in the WORLD at Melbourne, Australia on January 14

20 Dec 2021

In the last few years, certain South language films have been dubbed in Hindi and emerged as successes, like (2018), KGF (2018), and the recently released Pushpa: The Rise Part 01, starring Allu Arjun. However, the film that boosted this trend was the Baahubali series, starring Prabhas as the protagonist. While the first part, Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) was a huge success, the sequel, Baahubali 2 The Conclusion (2017) emerged as an all-time blockbuster, earning Rs. 510.99 crore in Hindi alone. His subsequent film, Saaho (2019), also turned out to be a super-hit. It earned Rs. 142.95 crore, despite negative word of mouth. As a result, the expectations are huge from his next flick, Radhe Shyam. It has now come to light that his fans in Australia are in for a treat. A special event screening of the film will take place on Friday, January 14, 2022, the day of its release, on the IMAX screen in Melbourne. The show will be held at 7:30 am.
