Bhushan, Rohan's Nautanki plan for Ramesh Sippy

21 Jan 2013

Producer Bhushan Kumar and Rohan Sippy have a cool plan to celebrate Ramesh Sippy's 60th birthday on January 23 this year. They will open the first look hoarding and poster of Nautanki Saala , their upcoming film. and will get Ayushmann Khurana and Kunal Roy Kapoor the lead actors from the film to enact the famous water tank scene from Sholay. Incidentally the title of the film is derived from that scene itself.

Rohan says, "This was actually Bhushan's idea. We thought that there couldn't be a better way to kick off Nautanki Saala . We will celebrate dad's birthday with the first promo launch since the title of the film is a line from Sholay . Bhushan and I wanted to do something special for him on his birthday. In fact, when we told dad and he was glad as he started his career with Andaaz (1971) on his birthday as well. It's a lovely way to celebrate the special day and his years in cinema with a film related event which is his home turf." As a tribute to the senior Sippy the event will have actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Kunal Roy Kapur perform an act based on the famous 'goanwalo' scene from Sholay where Dharmendra climbed a water tank and threatened to commit suicide if he was stopped from marrying Hema Malini's character.

" Nautanki Saala is in a lighter vein so we are planning something fun that will grab the attention of the media present. The details are being worked on," says Rohan.
