Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 11 : On the auspicious occasion of Eid, veteran star Saira Banu recalled how legendary actor Dilip Kumar celebrated the festival with Bollywood celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, Dharmendra, Sunil Dutt and others. Taking to her Instagram handle she dropped a video recalling the Eidcelebration and she also throwback pictures from her wedding with the 'Deedar' actor.Along with the video, she wrote a long note mentioning, "From our childhood, which we spent partly in India and partly in London, my brother Sultan Bhai and I had the freedom to celebrate all festivals and participate in the celebration of all joyful occasions in the neighborhood, irrespective of the nationality and faith of the revellers."She continued, "When we returned to India after completing high school in London, we surprised all our family members. We were so strongly rooted in our Indian culture and customs that we didn't need to be told what the festivals were about. We slipped easily into the cosmopolitan social milieu of Mumbai. We ushered in the month of Ramadan, observed the fasts, and prayed as we should. We looked forward to Eid with eagerness to invite our friends to join in our celebration of the day."Saira recalled how Eid became a grand event following her marriage to Dilip Kumar, stating that their home became the focal point of celebration for all of their industry friends as well as their huge social network of acquaintances from many walks of life."However, it was after my marriage to Dilip Saheb that Eid became an event for me. Our house became the center of celebration for all our friends in the film industry as well as the large social circle of friends from different walks of life and states of India.""The house wore the look of a garden from a fairy tale, with floral decorations and bouquets sent lovingly to Saheb by his fans and well-wishers. A voluntary music band would arrive early in the morning to play songs from films, and we would wake up to the sound of drums and bugles," added the 'Junglee' actor. She also described how visitors poured in without restrictions because it was an open house for their devoted followers, friends, and extended family members. Dilip Kumar used to believe in sharing and giving love, and nothing brings him greater delight than being in the company of individuals who are simple and kind, like himself."The visitors streamed in without restrictions, as it was an open house for the people who were our loyal admirers, friends, and extended family members. Saheb believes in sharing and giving, and nothing gives him more joy than being in the company of people who are simple and loving, like himself," she shared.Describing the celebration at their home, she said, "The air would be filled with the aroma of biryani and kheer getting ready in the kitchen, and the visitors would overflow from the lobby and drawing room into the garden. Our celebrations were never complete without music and singing by a classical maestro.""I have a wealth of memories that will never fade away. Suffice it to say, thank you, dear friends, for the good times we enjoyed and continue to stay in our hearts. May we be blessed with peaceful times and a life full of good health and harmony. Happy Eid," she concluded.Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar got married on October 11, 1966, and they stayed together till the demise of the legendary actor on July 7, 2021. They have been the most iconic couple of all time with terrific on-screen and off-screen chemistryFilms featuring the duo such as 'Gopi and Bairaag', 'Sagina Mahato' and 'Duniya', have always been a treat for the audience.
Vishnupad Temple in Gaya, Bihar.Sanjay prayed for the peace of the souls of his departed parents, Sunil Dutt and Nargis.Pind daan is a Hindu ritual that involves paying homage to the deceased. It's performed by relatives of the deceased at three holy sites in Gaya: the Phalgu River, Vishnupad Temple, and Akshay Vat tree. The ritual can take about two hours and can be completed in one day. After performing the rituals, he also met his fans, who were stationed outside the temple.Meanwhile, on the work front, Sanjay will be next seen in the sci-fi horror comedy film 'The Virgin Tree', which also features Sunny Singh, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari in the lead roles.Sharing more details about the film, Sanjay earlier said, "I am pleased to back the film, which was exactly the script I was looking for. The film is the perfect blend of comedy and horror, with the right balance of chills and thrills. I am so glad to have found a production partner in Deepak Mukut whose cinematic vision and ideals align with mine. I always wanted to encourage young, fresh talent in the industry and with this film, we launch a new director with a fresh vision. He has put together an eclectic cast and I wish them the best time and a glorious shoot ahead."He also has 'Welcome To The Jungle' alongside Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Disha Patani in his kitty. 'Welcome To The Jungle' is all set to hit theatres on December 20, 2024.
Padosan' completed 55 years, veteran actor Saira Banu recalled working in the movie and shared her shooting experience with Sunil DuttMehmood and Kishore Kumar. She took to her Instagram handle and wrote, "We are talking about one of the most favourite films of my career, mine, and the public in general. It is 'PADOSAN', a film for all occasions and ages. I am glad that I did this because I had refused any work soon after my marriage. It was understood that I would not be carrying on with a professional career."Banu continued, "It was then that Mehmood Bhai as he had earlier approached me for this film came running to Sahib, hugged him close, and kept saying in a rhetorical tone 'Yousuf Bhai you have to let Saira do this film for me. I will not let go of you until you say yes please please' Sahab was tickled to the bone and kept repeating laughingly 'Mehmood it is entirely up to Saira, You have to convince her. You have my absolute permission."Recalling further how the ace actor Mehmood approached legendary actor Dilip Kumar to allow her to be part of this film, she said, "At that time everyone knew that Sahib had shifted his venue of shooting to the South and Mehmood very considerately committed to Sahib that he would shoot the film in Madras with me to facilitate Sahib and I being together. This was the 'Cherry on the Cake' and I said Yes to PADOSAN. I am glad that unlike the dozens of films that I let go of PADOSAN and PURAB AUR PASCHIM were not one of them."The veteran actor added, "Mehmood Bhai shared scenes from the Tamil version of PADOSAN, and I laughed my guts out. We started shooting in Madras, and goodness it was a gathering of comedians, creating history with this film. The cast was so perfectly chosen that even I was initially surprised to see Dutt Saab as a simpleton 'Gaonwalla', I mean who could have imagined it? Dutt Saab would humorously say, 'Sairaji Yeh Kyaa Hain, Yeh Hum Kyaa Kar Rahein Hain? Hamein Toh 'Anthony and Cleopatra' May Kaam Karna Chahiye, Something Romantic and Glamorous."She concluded with, "Until PADOSAN, I hadn't worked with Dutt Saab, who turned out to be lively and funny. On the contrary, Kishore ji was a very subdued gentlemanly star who would get up from his seat respectfully as soon as any Lady walked in. The shooting was a killer. I used to laugh uncontrollably so much that the Unit would turn off all the lights and say 'Ruk Jao, Abhi Madam Hass Rahin Hain'. It was that difficult for me to stop. Later, I will be sharing anecdotes about PADOSAN that are both funny and interesting.#55YearsToPadosan"Directed by Jyoti Swaroop, the musical comedy film 'Padosan' was released in 1968. It featured Sunil Dutt and Saira Banu in lead roles along with MehmoodKishore Kumar, Mukri, Raj Kishore and Keshto Mukherjee. The film was produced by Mehmood and N C Sippy. The film was a remake of the Bengali film 'Pasher Bari', which was based on a short story of the same name by Arun Chowdhury starring Bhanu Bandyopadhyay and Sabitri Chatterjee.
"When I was offered 'Farrey' and read the script, I knew that the film's heart was in the right place. It's a very good and gripping story. The reason I wanted to make 'Farrey' was honestly very personal and dates back to many years ago when something similar happened to me," Padhi said. For Padhi, deciding to make this movie was not just a professional decision but also a very personal one that was based on a momentous event that happSounmendra Padhiened many years ago in his own life.'Farrey' delves into the complexities of human experiences, emotions, and the choices people make when faced with challenging situations.Earlier, Superstar Salman Khan on Tuesday unveiled the trailer of 'Farrey,' the debut film of his niece Alizeh Agnihotri.Taking to Instagram, Salman shared the poster which he captioned, "Ab hoga inka asli test! #FarreyTrailer out now!"View this post on InstagramA post shared by Salman Khan (@beingsalmankhan)'Farrey' is directed by national award-winning filmmaker Soumendra Padhi and stars Alizeh, Zeyn Shaw, Sahil Mehta, Prasanna Bisht, Ronit Bose Roy and Juhi Babbar Soni. The film is all set to hit the theatres on November 24.Meanwhile, Padhi is known for his much-acclaimed film, 'Budhia Singh: Born to Run', which received a national award.Apart from that, Padhi also helmed the web series 'Jamtara' seasons 1 and 2 which streamed exclusively on the OTT platform Netflix.Alizeh Agnihotri is the daughter of actor and producer Atul Agnihotri and Salman Khan's sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri.
friendship between the two started.Taking to Instagram, Saira Banu shared a candid picture of late actors Dilip Kumar and Sunil Dutt along with a lengthy note. The note read, I am joyous as I share stories and moments that Sahib shared and lived with people that he called friends. Sahib was known to be a lovable and caring person but only a few people knew that he was a great friend too...one of them was Sunil Dutt.Banu added, "Dilip Sahib and Dutt Sahab were not only neighbours but also dearest of friends. They were both great icons who did not isolate themselves in their own luxurious lives but always came to aid the film fraternity, whether it was a matter of the industry at large or some crisis. When there was big trouble and heartache Dilip Sahib and Dutt Sahab would burn the midnight lamp together and would pow-wow into finding solutions, be it 3 in the morning. or 4, whether it meant travelling to and fro to Delhi or helping victims of the civil riots in Mumbai."She revealed how Sunil Dutt use to bring his favourite Katori of cooked Dal to enjoy with Dilip Sahib. On occasions of mirth and joy, it was a treat to see Sunil Ji walking down the slope into Dilip Sahibs house to share his favourite Katori of cooked Dal that was a must for him with every meal.Banu also recalled an incident when Dutt met with an unfortunate air crash on his flight back from a function in Shirpur, Maharashtra. She continued, Once after a function in Shirpur, Maharashtra, Dutt Sahab met with an unfortunate air-crash on his flight back. He did survive it but landed at Breach Candy Hospital. Upon his discharge from the hospital, even the injury did not stop him from hobbling across with a walking stick to his friend Dilip Sahib's house to wish him Eid Mubarak. This was the greatness and camaraderie of Dutt Sahab.Banu revealed how the friendship between the two actually started. This friendship between the two goes back to a Radio Interview that Dutt Sahib did with Dilip Sahib and Mehboob Khans Mother India", wherein Dilip Sahib refused to be cast as Smt Nargis Jis son in the same film. After that Sunil Ji was cast in the same role, she stated. As soon as the picture was uploaded, the actors fans and industry friends chimed in the comment section. One of the users wrote, This is one of most heart warming posts in a long long time.Since her debut on Instagram, Saira Banu has been sharing pictures and anecdotes about herself and her late husband Dilip Kumar.Saira Banu married Dilip Kumar in 1966 and fans and supporters have always looked up to their 55 years of marriage as an eternal love story and have showered their love and blessings.

Bollywood lost its strongest pillar in the form of late actor Vinod Khanna on April 27, 2017. He had delivered some of the most iconic performances, making him one of the best performers the industry has ever seen. From a dacoit to a policeman, from a lover to an angry father, Vinod never failed to impress with his acting range. The late actor made his acting debut in 1968 with a Sunil Dutt movie named 'Man Ka Meet'. Even after starting his career as a villain, no one was ready to accept that those pure eyes and dapper looks do not belong to a hero. Soon Vinod Khanna charmed out multiple top actors in the industry by performing brilliantly as a lead actor and gaining a crazy fan following. But whether he performed as a protagonist or not, he ultimately left an impression on his audience. While his roles in 'Mastana' and 'Sachaa Jhuthaa' in 1970 were well-received, It was his appearance in several movies in 1971 that marked a turning point. In the critically acclaimed 'Mere Apne', as Shyamu, he stood against Shatrughan Sinha in the movie as friends turned in foes and displayed the vulnerability of the angry young man.Playing a police inspector in Shammi Kapoor's 'Jaane-Anjane', the vicious dacoit Jabbar Singh in 'Mera Gaon, Mera Desh' opposite Dharmendra, and a pivotal role in Sunil Dutt's 'Reshma Aur Shera' in 1971. In 'Hum Tum aur Who', Vinod Khanna played the hero for the first time.Known for his cameo in Jeetendra's 'Parichay', but for his performance as a military officer on death row for murdering his wife and her lover in movie 'Achanak', one of the Bollywood adaptations of Nanavati case, which actually made him famous. After that, there was no turning back for him as a hero. He had previously been cast in tough roles like of a cop or a criminal, but he showed he was capable of playing soft characters. One such example can be 'Imtihaan' in 1974, where he played an idealistic college lecturer attempting to teach an undisciplined class. One song that we can relate to from his movie is 'Ruk Jaana Nahi.'Vinod Khanna established himself as Hindi cinema's first 'angry young man' before legend Amitabh Bachchan. This equation directly led to a friendly rivalry between the duo.He has worked in many movies with Big B, which were a favourite topic of discussion among Cinephiles and was a treat to watch for the audience.Even though the lovely duo can't be seen again together, we can still return to following movies to pay our heartfelt tribute to Khanna's contribution to Indian Cinema and adorable friendship with Bachchan. 'Amar Akbar Anthony': The movie 'Amar Akbar Anthony' is a classic Bollywood melodramatic movie which serves entertainment in every sense possible. Khanna and Bachchan featured as brothers who separated in their childhood and reunited decades later after destiny bring them under the same roof. Bachchan played the role of Anthony Gonsalves and Khanna was seen as Amar the eldest brother in the movie. The film also featured late actor Rishi Kapoor as the third brother from the iconic trio. The audience made 'Parvarish' a major commercial which proves the fact that people loved to watch Vinod Khanna and Bachchan play brothers on screen. The social drama also featured gems of Bollywood like Shammi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Kader Khan and Shabana Azami among others.'Muqaddar Ka Sikander'Who can ever forget the musical tracks from this movie? The story of Rags to Riches about an orphan gained massive box-office validation by becoming the third highest grosser of an entire decade, Amitabh played the role of Sikander who was an orphan and made his way through the struggles of life. Khanna's performance too got critical admiration. When talking about the duo movies, how we can forget about 'Hera Pheri', a fun movie that gained a Filmfare Award nomination for Vinod Khanna. The movie features one of the best performances by both of the actors. The film plot was about two artists applying several tactics in their life to make their way which creates a lot of chaos and entertainment for the audience.'Reshma Aur Shera'The movie directed and produced by Sunil Dutt attracted tons of awards including a National Award and a nomination for Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Big B and former actor Khanna can be seen in power-packed roles in the film. The songs of the movie were also a massive hit at the time.Today is the late actor's death anniversary and it has been 6 years since Khanna left us leaving with a vacuum which can never be filled again.
