Aditya Pancholi and Raza Murad expressed their grief and paid their last respects to veteran actor Junior Mehmood in Mumbai on Friday. Junior Mehmood, who was battling with stage four cancer. He was 67. The actor breathed his last in the early hours of Friday. Junior Mehmood's family friend confirmed the news and said, "He passed away last night at 2 am in Mumbai. He was suffering from stomach cancer and was not keeping well for the last few days. His last rites will be performed in Santacruz burial ground after today's afternoon prayers."Talking to ANI, Aditya Pancholi said, "Very sad, he was a very kind person and he helped many people. I will remember him throughout my life and pray to God that his soul rests in peace and his family gets strength. He was like my brother, when we did not have a car, he used to take us around during the struggling days."Raza Murad shared, "In 110 years of Indian films's history, there is no such superstar child artist like him has come till date in the industry. Whether it was Rajesh Khanna's 'Haathi Mere Saathi', 'Aan Milo Sajna', superstars also needed Junior Mehmood. He is the only child artist in history, who had his own audience, who was superstar in his own. His name used to create rhythm in the film. Distributors also wanted him. He was paired with Sheikh Mukhtar Saab. They were like master and apprentice."The actor added, "It was Junior Mehmood, who took me out of India. After he took me to Dubai, then to Bangkok. He never use to make films without me. Whether it was a video film or Marathi film, without me he never use to do shows. He was a very humble person. He was firm and true to his commitment. Such child artist has neither come till date nor will come in future."Avtar Gill, who also came to pay the last tribute to Junior Mehmood, told ANI, "Few days ago Johnny Lever told me about his health condition. You will be surprised to know that he was senior to me in the film industry. When he used to work in the films, I was in school. In college, I use to watch his movies. After that we kept on meeting and many times talked about working in the films. He was a loving person, whenever I met him, he greeted me well. The whole world knew Junior Mehmood as an actor but not as a person."He continued, "Three-fours days ago, I also did a video call with him. He was able to recognize but was not talking. So, I told I told I will come to meet you in one or two days. Then, suddenly got the news that he is no more. I didn't knew that he will leave us so early. I pray to god that his soul rest in peace. He was a good man. The work he has done, everyone and the whole world knows it. We have seen him working with superstars like Shammi Kapoor, Jeetendra, among others, there was no such star with whom he didn't worked with. He was one of the them who is called a born actor, be it a song, dance or scene, he always did a tremendous job. I think the world will remember for the work he did."Veteran actor Junior Mehmood, known for his roles in films like 'Kati Patang' and 'Aan Milo Sajna' among others, is currently battling with stage four cancer.Jr Mehmood's close friend Salam Kazi earlier told ANI, "He was ill for 2 months and initially we thought that he might have some minor problem but after that suddenly his weight started decreasing. And when the medical reports came, it said there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumour in the intestine and he has also developed jaundice. So the treatment going on, but the doctors said it's a stage four cancer."Jr Mehmood worked in over 200 films in different languages. He is best known for movies like 'Brahmachari' (1968), 'Mera Naam Joker' (1970), 'Parvarish' (1977), and 'Do Aur Do Paanch' (1980).
Raza Murad graced the red carpet of the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and discussed the theme of 'The Villains: Leaving a Lasting Impression' during a session.Talking about the event, Raza told ANI, "Its aim is that filmmakers from every corner of the world have come to the event. They may belong to other countries but we all the film-makers are one family. We may have different nationalities but together we are a family. Our religion is to entertain people and to educate them. So the entire film fraternity of the world is here and we are a family."Revealing his favourite film and role, he said, "The film closest to my heart is 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' and it was Raj Kapoor's last film. My favourite role is 'Henna' in which I played the role of Pakistani police officer Shahbaaz Khan and coincidentally both these films are of RK."Notably, Murad began his career with the 1972 film 'Ek Nazar.' Murad appeared in a number of popular Bollywood films, including Raj Kapoor's 'Prem Rog,' 'Henna,' and 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili,' as well as 'Khud-daar,' 'Ram Lakhan,' 'Tridev,' 'Pyar Ka Mandir,' 'Aankhen, Mohra,' and 'Gupt.'He appears in the 1993 film 'Ek Hi Raasta' alongside Ajay Devgn as a terrorist attempting to dominate India.Murad also appeared in Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Jodhaa Akbar' as a supporting character.
India], November 19 : Veteran actor Raza Murad talked about the performance of team India in the World Cup 2023 and said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among them. "Today history is going to repeat itself. Our 11 brave players have won the 10 matches. I haven't seen this kind of enthusiasm and teamwork before. I believe that we are going to win the match convincingly," he said while speaking to ANI. On the work front, Murad has been part of movies like such as Raj Kapoor's 'Prem Rog', 'Henna' and 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' as well as 'Khud-daar', 'Ram Lakhan', 'Tridev', 'Pyar Ka Mandir', 'Aankhen', 'Mohra', and 'Gupt'. He appeared in 1993's 'Ek Hi Raasta' with Ajay Devgn as a terrorist who attempts to rule India. Murad played a supporting role in Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Jodhaa Akbar'.Talking about India's match, the 'Men in Blue will lock horns with Australia today in Ahmedabad. This will be a 20-year-old repeat clash of the 2003 World Cup Final when the two cricket-enthusiast nations faced each other and India will be aiming to reverse the result of the last encounter, which India lost by 120 runs.India stormed into the finals after registering a comprehensive 70-run victory over New Zealand on Wednesday. After Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill's explosive start, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scored a ton each to put India on course of a massive target.KL Rahul arrived to apply the finishing touches to power IndiaIndia's trip to Ahmedabad. In the second semifinal, South Africa made Australia sweat to reach the humble target of 213. The five-time champions slipped in their chase of the paltry target but recovered just in time to cross the finish line.Australia skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc held their nerves to take the five-time champions to the final against India.
Raza Murad on Thursday condoled the death of his 'Ram Lakhan' co-star Satish Kaushik and termed it as "a loss for all of us."Talking to ANI, Murad said, "Most people just go through life; very few of them know how to live. And Satish Kaushik lived a fulfilling life. Laughing, smiling and spreading joy into the lives of others. There was this quality about him that people used to start smiling and feeling joyful just by seeing his face."Kaushik hailed from Mahendragarh, Haryana and studied in Delhi before starting his career in showbiz. "A boy comes alone from Haryana, he struggles, gets a job cause this (Mumbai) is an expensive city. Along with that he also starts doing stage work only to become such a big name. He has done some of the most memorable roles like Calendar in 'Mr India', he played a character named Pappu Pager, in 'Ram Lakhan' he co-starred with me as Kanchi Ram," he said.Reminiscing the days when he starred with Kaushik, he added, "I got the opportunity to work with him in two films. One was 'Ram Lakhan' and the other was 'Aunty No. 1' We used to eagerly wait for him to come to set and when he did, he used to change the mood with his talks and jokes. It's a loss for all of us, we have lost a good person, actor, director and writer."Murad said, "He was a very jovial and live-hearted person and as soon as he came to the sets, the atmosphere used to change. He made very good films like 'Roop ki Rani Choro ka Raja', 'Prem', 'Tere Naam', 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai', so he was a multi-talented and multi-faceted person. Being happy and making others happy was an important part of his life."On the family front, Kaushik suffered a personal tragedy when after his marriage to Shashi Kaushik in 1985, their son, Shanu Kaushik died when he was just two years old. Later, in 2012, his daughter Vanshika was born through a surrogate mother.Referring to this tragedy, Murad stated, "Everyone has to go someday but today due to his demise people all over the nation, along with the film industry, are mourning. What can be a bigger honour for anyone? Also, the life of comedians has a lot of tragedy in them. Two years after his marriage, he had a boy but due to some disease, he passed away at age 2. What he must have felt was tragic. But life has to go on. Often, we have to hide our sorrows and make people happy, such was the life of Satish Kaushik."The mortal remains of Satish, who passed away at the age of 66 after suffering a cardiac arrest, will be sent to Mumbai for his last rites in an air ambulance which will carry his body from Delhi's Deen Dayal Hospital where he had been brought for a postmortem.
