She is best known for her role in Ajay Bahl's Section 375.

Buying a house with your hard-earned money is always special and dream come true for most. However, this dream becomes fulfilled only when one is able to design and decorate the house as per ones needs. This stage takes time and is a smooth affair for most but not everyone is lucky. Meera Chopra of 1920 London (2016) and Section 375 (2019) fame was one such person who had a harrowing time while designing her house. The actress had to even file an FIR against her interior decorator and is still awaiting justice.Bollywood Hungama has a copy of the FIR which has been lodged at Oshiwara Police station under Sections 354 (outraging a woman's modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting modesty of a woman).Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Meera Chopra said, I bought a new house in Andheri, Mumbai. I hired an interior designer from Oshiwara, named Rajinder Dewan, to design the house. I had to go to Banaras for a shoot for 15-20 days. So we signed an agreement and the price we fixed was Rs. 17 lakhs. He asked me to pay Rs. 8 lakhs, that is, nearly 50% of the payment in advance and he assured me that hell get most of the work while I am out of town. I didnt know him that well but there was a trust factor. 50% advance koi deta bhi nahi hai. Yet, I did as I trusted him to take care of the house.Meera Chopra then states that she was shocked when she returned from the shoot, I had given him designs and had told him to use certain kind of woodwork and ply. Since Mumbai is a humid city, you need to use very good quality material. But when I came back, I realized that the material he has used is very substandard. Later, I found out that most of the interior decorators follow this practice of using inferior quality material. I told him to change it. He refused. He is quite senior to me; hes nearly 50 years old. So I respectfully told him Aap please aise mat karo. Nahin toh main aapse kaam nahi kara paungi. To which he got extremely abusive in front of all the workers. You wont believe this; he pushed me out of my own house and told me Tum aise bola mat karowarna workers kaam nahi karenge. Imagine, unhone meri hi ghar se mujhebahar nikal diya!Meera Chopra continued, I came home and sent him a message that I wont be able to work with you. Please provide the bills of the expenditure you have done till now and please return the balance amount. However, he didnt return any money. He gave me certain handwritten bills. After which he disappeared.She added, This is why I went to the police station and filed an FIR. Ab tak uss FIR pe koi action hua nahi hai. It's been 2 months. I was quiet about it. But as a girl staying alone in Mumbai, I can only go to a certain extent to get help. I dont have a family here. I know some people here par main ek extent tak unse favour maang sakti hoon. Theres a police department and they are supposed to do their work.She also said, Now its no longer about the money. I mean I am not denying that money is not important. This is my first house and hence its very special. Whats shocking is that he was relatively known to me aur woh ek akeli ladke ke saath aisa karke chale gaye.Meera Chopra then said that several people have had a similarly difficult time with their interior decorators, I had tweeted about my grievance on Twitter and a lot of people had replied that most interior designers dupe people. So I am also trying to create awareness that agar kisi kesaath iss tarah se kuch galat ho raha hai, then police should take immediate action. This is because its happening on a very rampant basis, especially in Mumbai. In our city, kisi ke paas time nahi hota hai roz ja ke ghar dekhne ka. Hence, the whole arrangement works on trust and these people take unfair advantage of it.She continued, Agar koi normal ladki se koi Rs. 8 lakh leke chala jaata, woh toh FIR bhi nahi karpaati. Hence, I want to put this out on a public platform that such kind of behaviour is not done.Meera Chopra also had a complaint against Rajinder Dewans daughter, Richa Malhotra, She is of my age. She used to accompany her father to my house. And I have always said this that iss desh mein sisterhood nahi hai. Ek aurat dusri aurat ki help nahi karti. She has no remorse that her father conned another girl of lakhs of rupees. She should tell her father that what hes doing is wrong. Sadly, people stoop down to such levels because of money and everyone keeps quiet. But someone needs to raise their voice.When asked if she followed up with the cops over inaction on her complaint, Meera Chopra replied, I did for almost a month. Then I stopped doing it as I had to hire a new interior designer. Also, my shoots were going on. As a result, I couldnt follow up after a point. The FIR is done. I trust the police to do the right thing.She added, Jab tak police ke peeche na pado na, tab tak kuch nahi karti. And I understand why because they have much larger issues to look after. But just because my issue is comparatively trivial, its happening on a large scale as the culprits know that no action will be taken against them.What shocks Meera Chopra is that the cops can anytime take action against Rajinder Dewan as hes not absconding. Hes in Oshiwara, she revealed.Did Meera Chopra try meeting with Rajinder Dewan at his residence or office? She replied that she avoided doing so for a reason, Actually, hes kind of a goonda. Hes very abusive. I had met him at the police station and even in front of the cops, he was abusing me. If Id tell him that something is not right, hell immediately get aggressive. Hes not open to any kind of criticism. Such people should be punished. If hes doing this to me, knowing I am in the industry and have some connections imagine how they must be harassing the common man.Meera Chopra then shared that popular actor Diljit Dosanjh may have also fallen prey to their unprofessional behaviour, He had designed Diljits house in Oberoi Springs. This is something that they only told me. They claimed that 90% kaam hone ke baad Diljit ne inko nikaal diya tha. Her daughter said that she requested the actors manager to let her record a video of their work but the manager declined their request. I felt really bad for them. But now I understand why Diljits manager must have refused them. They must have indulged in some wrongdoing.Meanwhile, her house is almost ready courtesy of a newly hired interior designer. In fact, Ill be shifting to my new house in the next 2-3 days, she said and signed off.

But the way the virus led to extreme devastation has prompted most people to book their slots for vaccination. Sadly, with the shortage of the vaccine in the country at present, a very limited number of people are able to get the jab, especially those under the age of 45 years.In the midst, Meera Chopra, it seems, tried to get her first dose of vaccination using unfair means. The actress was administered the vaccine yesterday at Thane, near Mumbai, in Parking Plaza vaccination center. She even posted a picture on her Twitter and Instagram account.Nothing seemed fishy until it came to light that she got the vaccination by posing as a frontline worker. Niranjan Davkhare, MLC and BJPs Thane unit president, on his social media, uploaded a picture of the identity card of Meera Chopra where her designation was mentioned as that of a supervisor. This ID card belonged to an agency called Om Sai Aarogya Care Pvt Ltd. According to Niranjan, Meera Chopra flashed this card in order to get the first dose.In no time, Meera Chopra began to get criticized for her act. Because of the controversy, she immediately deleted her picture from her social media accounts.Niranjan Davkhare then posted a video on his Facebook account yesterday and insisted that an enquiry be done on this episode. He demanded to know whether Meera Chopra has been indeed employed by Om Sai Aarogya Care Pvt Ltd or was the card given to her only to enable her to get the vaccination.Meera Chopra is the second cousin of Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra and began her career by acting in Tamil and Telugu films. She made her debut in Bollywood with the horror comedy, Gang Of Ghosts (2014) followed by the horror flick, 1920: London (2016). She was last seen on the big screen in the much acclaimed courtroom drama, Section 375 (2019). Last month, her gritty web series, The Tattoo Murders, was released on Disney+ Hotstar.20 days back, Meera Chopra had revealed that two of her cousins, in their early 40s, passed away after getting infected by Covid-19. An enraged Meera had said in an interview, I lost two very close cousins not because of Coronavirus but because the medical infrastructure has totally crumbled down. My first cousin couldnt get an ICU bed in Bengaluru for almost two days.

Celebs across the world are the easiest targets for social media trolls. So much so, that they usually get immune to nasty comments. But sometimes it’s hard to not get affected. Actress Meera Chopra is the latest example in that regard. The actress held a chat session with her fans on social media and is being trolled incessantly for one of her answers.Talking about the incident, the actress says, “I conducted an ‘Ask Meera’ session on Twitter and a fan asked me about my favourite actor from the south film industry. I said, Mahesh Babu. Then somebody asked if I liked Jr. NTR, and I said I don’t know him and I’m not a fan. That’s it. As soon as I said that, I was bombarded with abuses, murder threats, rape threats, character assassination, and threats against my parents. Some morphed my face with porn actors. I’ve got close to 30,000 abusive tweets so far.”As a female celeb, she feels disgusted when the character of a woman is torn to bits if they express an opinion that may not be in consonance with what others think, and the actress says, “Is there no freedom of choice and expression left in today’s social media world? How can it be a crime to not be somebody’s fan? We can’t possibly love everybody. I’ve been tagged a whore, porn star, bitch and what not for just expressing my opinion on not being a Jr. NTR fan! It’s unfortunate. I’ve been given threats of gang rape, wishes that my parents die of Covid-19. Is this a civilized society? I am angry, but not scared. I’ve been constantly talking about women issues and here I face one myself.”Is she willing to take strict action against this? “Yes,” says Meera, adding, “I am already in talks with the cyber cell team. I’ve always advocated that women should fight for themselves and stand against what’s wrong. Then how can I not do anything about this! You cannot character assassinate a woman, give threats, and abuse her for sharing her choice. I have to raise my voice against such fan clubs. These are the kind of people who go out and commit rapes and murders.”The actress goes on to say that such fans draw encouragement from the stars they root for. “I feel sad for such stars who have such twisted fanbase, is this what stardom is? I think a star should address such fan clubs and insist that they refrain from such hooliganism. But they don’t do that. Their fans are openly discussing gang rapes and murders and they also use their DPs, but stars just stay quiet,” says Meera, adding she has tagged Jr. NTR, sharing some abusive tweets. “I hope he responds to his fans.”While such trolls don’t scare her, she feels worried about the safety of women in the country. “Apart from threats to me, one of the trolls wrote, ‘Your parents will die soon because of corona.’ How can such statements not incite anger in you? I want all his fan clubs to be pulled down from Twitter. People who have given death threats and gang rape threats should be arrested. And if that doesn’t happen, I’ll start believing that there is no safety for women in our country,” says Meera.

A few days ago we had reported that filmmaker Vikram Bhatt had filed a defamation case against Kamaal R Khan over derogatory remarks on him and his 1920 London actress Meera Chopra. Both Vikram Bhatt and KRK have gone back and forth calling out each other on social media since then. KRK ranted about Meera Chopra and all the dirty tricks Vikram Bhatt played with her. On the other hand, Vikram started a petition to get KRK banned from social media and urged his fans to sign it.

Well, the story has taken a new turn as it seems like Vikram Bhatt and KRK have called it a truce. As usual, KRK shared a few tweets where he apologised for his mistakes and talked about the controversy. He also apologised to the film fraternity for his past mistakes. He wrote, "Today I watched Vikram Bhatt n he said-KRK has got big social media power so he should decide whether he wants to be... recognised as a troll only or respected critic n I am 100% agree with his statement. So thanks to Vikram Bhatt for showing me right way. (sic). Anyway thanks Mr.Vikram Bhatt for giving me very good advise n I am sorry if I hurt you in the past. Cheers and best of luck for future. I m sorry to all other Bollywood ppl also if I have hurt anyone by my statement or review. Today a new very serious type of critic has born." Responding to KRK's apology, Vikram Bhatt decided to accept it and wrote, "It takes a lot of courage to correct your ways and accept it on a public platform. I admire you for it. I am sure everybody in our fraternity will accept your apology and applaud you for understanding. You are a talented critic and people will take you seriously now because you are not a troll anymore :) cheers!"

After Gang of Ghosts , Meera Chopra is all set to start with her next venture in Bollywood. The actress will be co-starring alongside Pooja Chopra of Commando fame, and former Miss India Hasleen Kaur in a film titled Zindagi Ek Pal . As the title suggests, the film is a light-hearted drama filled with adventure as the three girls set out to explore a life of their own. The film went on floors recently, in the first week of October. While it will be extensively shot in Mumbai, a small shoot schedule is also said to be based in Montenegro in Southern Europe.

Produced by Vipul Shah, Zindagi Ek Pal will be directed by debutant Suketu Parekh. The details of the rest of the cast are being kept under wraps and the release date of the film is yet to be finalized.
