EXPLOSIVE NEWS: Ranveer Singhs next with Rohit Shetty is the Angoor adaptation! Double Dhamaka

12 Oct 2020

Bollywood Hungama was the FIRST on the web space to break the news of Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh collaborating again after the blockbuster success of Simmba on an out and out comedy film, which is in the scripting stage. We have now exclusively discovered that the mass director actor duo is collaborating on the official adaptation of Gulzars cult classic comedy, Angoor starring Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma.Rohit Shetty has been trying to make Angoor remake for a while now and it is finally happening now with Ranveer Singh stepping into Sanjeev Kumars shoes. Rohit had planned to revisit Angoor in 2015 with Shah Rukh Khan in lead, however, things didnt materialize and the two collaborated on Dilwale. After that, he got busy with Golmaal AgainSimmba and Sooryavanshi. He has now got the much needed break in the Covid pandemic, and he utilised the time to fine tune and rework on the script of Angoor adaptation, a trade source told BollywoodHungama exclusively. Thats not all, Rohit is planning to make it on a massive scale and like all his previous adaptations, even this one will have an added tadka of Rohit Shetty.Bol Bachchan was essentially inspired by Golmaal, rather a commercial take on Golmaal. The same way, even Angoor is more of an adaptation in present time, and Rohit is just retaining the basic premise of how two identical twins lead to confusion. It is currently being scripted and the final draft is expected to be locked soon, following which they will move on to the other aspects of pre-production, including signing other actors of the ensemble, the trade source further told. Both Ranveer and Rohit are excited about the collaboration and at this point of time, the focus is on the script as adapting Angoor is a big responsibility and both of them are aware of the same. It will be a double role for Ranveer, and it will be a first in this space for Ranveer. They are planning it as the biggest Bollywood comedy till date, the trade source said. They are yet to decide on the title for the upcoming comedy. After the Angoor remake, Rohit Shetty will move on to Golmaal 5 with Ajay Devgn followed by another Ajay Devgn franchise, Singham.

Sanjeev Kumar gets a biography

7 Nov 2019

One of the finest actors in the industry, Sanjeev Kumar, who passed away in 1985, is getting his biography. It will be written by Reeta Gupta along with Kumars nephew Uday Jariwala. Sanjeev Kumars real name was Harihar Jariwala. My uncles biography was long overdue. I was really happy when Reeta Gupta approached me with the same. The legend of Sanjeev Kumar deserves to be told, as he left us too early. The enduring charm to his common man appeal remains. Producers continued to release films (a total of 10), up to 1993, eight years after his death. Even today, Indians across the globe see him as an iconic performer, Uday Jariwala said in a statement on Wednesday which was Sanjeev Kumars 34th death anniversary. Uday Jariwala feels Sanjeev Kumars story deserves a book and a movie or a web series. Meanwhile, the biography will be released on the 35th death anniversary of Sanjeev Kumar next year. Sanjeev Kumar had an exemplary career. He starred in films like Arjun Pandit Sholay, Trishul, Khilona, Yehi Hai Zindagi, Naya Din Nai Raat Devata, Itni Si Baat and Ram Tere Kitne Naam.He was also part of several suspense-thriller films such as Qatl, Shikar, Uljhan, and Trishna. The actor proved his versatility with comedy films like Manchali, Pati Patni Aur Woh Angoor, Hero among others.

John Abraham reveals that he read the Quran for his role in Batla House

12 Aug 2019

Actor John Abraham who is gearing up for the release of Batla House plays the role of police officer Sanjay Kumar in the film. The role is inspired by DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav (then ACP, Special Cell, Delhi Police), who was involved inthe controversial Batla House encounter of 2008. Both the director Nikkhil Advani and John Abraham had spent a considerable amount of time with the police officer understanding his mannerisms and language. It was during these meetings that the director noticed the Quran in the DCPs library. He learned that the officer read the Quran to understand the guys he was having conversations with as they would often quote verses from the holy book. It helped the officer to better understand their beliefs during interrogations. John Abraham, too, read the Quran and even learnt a few verses. He said that while talking to a certain character it is important to understand his thought process. He also said that one needs to be well-read to have a point of view. The Parmanu actor said that he is aware of a lot of things but thinks that some people have a skewed view of everything. The film Batla House also stars Mrunal Thakur and Ravi Kishan and is scheduled to release on August 15. However, a petition had been filed against the film requesting to postpone its release. The petition claimed that the film has the potential to influence the ongoing trail of Batla House encounter. The High Court has adjourned the case until August 13.

John Abraham If Sanjeev Kumar thinks I am not good enough, he can SHOOT me

9 Jul 2019

John Abraham is all set for another movie, which is based on a real incident of national interest. Batla House , inspired by the Operation Batla House that took place in 2008, features him as police officer Sanjeev Kumar Yadav. Talking about the responsibility of play a real life character he says, The responsibility is even bigger as this is the first time I am playing someone who is still serving. If he (Sanjeev Kumar) thinks I am not good enough, he can shoot me (laughs!). So, I better be good at portraying him in the film. To get into the skin of the character, John spent a lot of time with Sanjeev. He shares, I spent a lot of time with Sanjeev and his wife Shobhna to understand his mindset, body language, the way he sits, stands, talks, reacts to situations and what he went through. I had a million questions for him. The actor adds, There were times when I was tempted to take creative liberties, but I refrained from that; I wanted to be true to the character. It was interesting playing him, but it was difficult, too, because it is a strong and conflicting character. A lot has happened in his life post the Batla House incident and to present that on screen was difficult. Its like walking on a double-edged sword and you dont want to tilt either way. So, this is not Nikkhil (Advani, director) or my version of a story that we want people to believe in, but this is what it we believe in, factually. There are different perspectives around this incident, on which John says, Batla House is not anti or pro any community or political establishment. Its a story of this mans life and what he went through. To put it in simple words, its a story of one mans life. I am aware that there will be conflicting views even if you stick to facts as closely as possible. However, the idea is to build a conversation and I hope we have done that with this film. One way of looking at it is to show different perspectives to the story and the other is to make the audience think and give them a reason for constructive argument.

Pati, Patni Aur Woh Remake: Bhumi Pednekar joins Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Pandey in the film

19 Jan 2019

As we all know, the 70s classic Pati, Patni Aur Woh starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta is all set to get a new twist! And the 2019 rehash version will have Kartik Aaryan Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday in lead roles. The final cast was recently announced on social media by the producers and the star cast too shared their excitement on the same platform. Producer and head honcho of T-Series, Bhushan Kumar took to Twitter to share a photo of the entire team of Pati, Patni Aur Woh.Besides the cast, the picture also included director Mudassar Aziz and producers Juno and Abhay Chopra, Renu Chopra and Bhushan Kumar himself. He posted the picture saying, Our next project! ?? #PatiPatniAurWoh to go on floors soon! Although we arent sure of the details of who is playing the Patni and who will be the Woh in Patis life, there are speculations that newbie Ananya will play the Woh whereas Bhumi will be the Patni. On the other hand, in earlier reports, the makers have clearly asserted that Pati, Patni Aur Woh will be contemporized to suit the sensibilities of the current generation. The film is a quirky take on extra marital affairs and reportedly, the makers are also quite keen on changing its climax. Producer Bhushan Kumar has announced on Twitter that the film is slated to go on floor but the dates are yet to be revealed. Reports have it that Pati, Patni Aur Woh will be extensively shot in Mumbai itself. Also Read: Ananya Pandey to feature as Woh in the Kartik Aaryan starrer Pati, Patni Aur Woh remake?

Kartik Aaryan to step into veteran actor Sanjeev Kumars role in the remake of the cult, Pati Patni Aur Who

12 Jan 2019

Since a while, there have been reports about remake of Pati, Patni Aur Woh that have been doing the rounds. Considering that there has been a trend of remakes in Bollywood since quite some time now, this one getting added to the list was a subsequent step. The original starred Sanjeev Kumar in the role of pati [husband] and now the role in the remake is expected to be played by Kartik Aaryan.Juno Chopra, grandson of BR Chopra is keen on recreating Bollywood classics and in the past, he attempted to recreate Rajesh Khanna starrer Ittefaq. Now, we hear that Pati, Patni Aur Woh seem to have caught his fancy and he even discussed about this 1978 drama with his brother Abhay Chopra. The latter was recently quoted in media reports expressing his support towards remakes, adding that since they have a library of films; why not recreate them according to contemporary sensibilities. Coming to the remake of Pati, Patni Aur Woh , except Karthik Aaryan, the rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. Readers may recall that the 70s hit featured Sanjeev Kumar as a middle aged manager who hires a pretty secretary played by Ranjeeta. After resisting his attraction towards her, he soon starts an affair with her by gaining sympathy for his so-called terminally ill wife. On the other hand, his healthy wife Vidya Sinha is initially oblivious to the affair but soon starts suspects something fishy. When her suspicions are confirmed, Sanjeev is left busted and now he has to choose sides before everything gets out of hand! The two actresses for the film are yet to be revealed and an official announcement is expected to be made soon. Reports have it that the prep for the film has already kicked off and that the film may go on floor in February in Mumbai. Also Read: Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan to star in Love Aaj Kal 2?
