Goa) [India], November 28 : Screen legend and producer Michael Douglas grooved to the famous song "Naatu Naatu" from the 2022 film RRR at the 54th International Film Festival of India.He also received the renowned Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award on Tuesday.Michael startled everyone at a special interactive of IFFI as he was seen swaying his leg to RRR's Oscar-winning song 'Naatu Naatu' on stage. "Naatu Naatu" is the first Indian song to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Song.The 79-year-old actor was on stage with producer Shailendra when he broke into a dance.Michael wore a white shirt, a blue blazer and grey trousers.On Tuesday, he was conferred with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa.The veteran actor, who headlined several Hollywood hits such as 'The Ghost and the Darkness', 'Fatal Attraction', 'Wall Street' and 'A Perfect Murder', among many others, was honoured for his remarkable contributions to the world of filmmaking.The actor received a standing ovation from the audience as he stepped up to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant conferred the award on the legendary actor.Actor Ayushmann Khurrana delivered an introductory speech and invited Douglas to the stage to receive the award.In his acceptance speech, the actor said, "I'll want to share this with PM Modi, Minister Anurag Thakur, Minister L Murugan, and my good friend, Shailendra Singh. About Dry Grasses directed by French Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be the Mid fest film and The Featherweight directed by Robert Kolodny is the closing film for 54th IFFI.Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani will serve as the head of the five-member jury for the best web series (OTT) award at the festival. Divya Dutta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and filmmakers Krishna DK and Utpal Borpujari are part of the jury panel for the inaugural category.A total of 32 entries across 10 languages from 15 OTT platforms have been selected for the inaugural best web series award. Speaking about the newly introduced OTT awards, Anurag Thakur said that since the COVID-19 pandemic, the OTT industry has seen a boom in India and original content created in India is employing thousands of people. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur has announced that Mr. Istevan Szabo and Mr. Martin Scorsese will be conferred the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in Goa. Istevan Szabo is one of the most critically acclaimed Hungarian film directors of the past few decades known for masterpieces like Mephisto (1981) Father (1966). Martin Scorsese is one of the major figures of the New Hollywood era, widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential directors in film history.Speaking during the announcements, Shri Anurag Thakur remarked, India is a land of storytellers; our tales have captured the imagination of the world. Netflix will organize the India premiere of ThePower of the Dog by Jane Campion. Nominations for the Asia Content Awards were recently announced, and Ali Fazal bags the nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ispit Nair in Forget Me Not, one of the four films in the Ray anthology on Netflix. Directed by Srijith Mukherji, the story is a modern interpretation of Satyajit Rays story Bipin Chaudhary Ka Smriti Bhram. Ali plays the role of a cut-throat corporate shark who never forgets anything and has a memory of a computer.On the nomination, he says, "Wow! This was totally unexpected. I am so humbled to receive this nomination and it means a lot to be recognized by ACA. A lot of great content was produced this year in Asia and to land a nomination amongst such an impressive lineup of films and actors is an honour."Nushrratt Bharuccha has also bagged the nomination for Best Actress for Ajeeb Daastaans on Netflix. The 3rd Asian Contents Awards (ACA) is run by the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM). Bengals most distinguished actor Soumitra Chatterjee has tested positive for Covid-19 sending shock waves through the Bengal film industry.Soumitra, who is above 80, is considered a national treasure of Bengali cinema with a string of master performances to his credit including a massive body of work with Satyajit Ray.Expressing concern over the Doyens illness a major Bengali star who didnt want to be named said, Given the seriousness of the virus it is foolhardy of Mamta Bannerjee to have opened movie theatres in Bengal. She should seriously re-consider her decision.
