"Spent 21 years in Delhi, loved exploring momos, street food": Triptii Dimri reminisces about national capital

24 Jan 2024

"I have spent 21 years of my life in Delhi. While coming to South Extension market today, I undoubtedly became nostalgic. I have spent hours and hours in markets of Delhi exploring delicious street food items like momos. I miss my family, friends and of course food in Delhi," Triptii shared on the sidelines of the launch of Twamev's flagship store in Delhi.Triptii originally hails from Uttarakhand but has spent a major part of her life in Delhi. After studying in Delhi, she moved to Mumbai to pursue an acting career. And now with her acting stint in films like 'Laila Majnu', 'Bulbul', 'Qala' and 'Animal', the young artiste has managed to carve a niche for herself in the industry. Interestingly, Triptii has also been enthralling fans with her fashion statement. With appearances at the airport becoming a frequent occurrence for her, it didn't take time for her to come into the spotlight for the outfits that she donned before travelling to another city. Asked if she underwent the pressure to always be well-dressed at the airport, Triptii said,"No...I like to be comfortable. I feel very cold in aircraft so I make sure I am fully covered and comfortable."She also feels that her fashion quotient has evolved over the years. "Initially, I was very casual with my dressing...even now I am very casual but when I have to go to events I have to be a little careful. I can't be too casual all the time right?" Triptii laughed.

Triptii Dimri and Babil Khan-starrer 'Qala' has clocked a year on Friday. The film, written and directed by Anvitaa Dutt, premiered on Netflix on December 1, 2022, with Triptii Dimri in the lead as Qala Manjushree, a renowned singer haunted by her past.Recalling working in the film, Triptii said, "Qala' was more than just a film. It was a journey of self-discovery, resilience, emotions, passion and love for art. I'm grateful to Anvitaa Dutt and Clean Slate Filmz for allowing me to bring this story to life and pushing me to deliver a performance to be proud of. Here's to the power of storytelling and to everyone who embraced the film with open hearts. Truly grateful for the journey this film has taken us on."At the moment, Triptii is being lauded for her role in 'Animal', which hit the theatres today. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, 'Animal' also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandana and Shakti Kapoor.Recently, during the promotional event in Chennai, Ranbir opened up on why Sandeep Reddy Vanga's next directorial has been titled 'Animal'.Ranbir said, "Once you see the film, you will understand."He elaborated on the reason and said, "I think the reason why Sandeep Reddy Vanga called this film Animal is because animals behave out of instinct. They don't behave out of thought. So this character that I'm playing behaves out of instinct to protect his family. He is not thinking he is behaving out of instinct; he is impulsive, and I think that's where the title Animal came from, and once you see the film, you'll realise that this film suits this title."

"Comparisons begin at home": Tripti Dimri on actresses being pitted against each other

7 Dec 2022

Tripti Dimri has a strong opinion against comparison between actresses in the film industry. In a conversation with ANI, the 'Bulbbul' actor said, "I have seen many comparisons in the industry between actresses like 'Who wore it better' or 'Who did it better'"."I think you start to compare yourself to others when someone else does it.....Comparisons begin at home, when your academic performance is compared to someone else's kid. And that's when you feel that you have to do better than someone," the 'Laila Majnu' actor added. The 28-year-old feels that comparison builds "unhealthy competition between children", which is carried till adulthood."You carry it till you grow up, and then you start comparing others yourself," she said in an interview with ANI.The actor recently appeared in the psychological drama "Qala", opposite debutant Babil Khan."It was his first project and he faced the camera for the first time. Sometimes he takes extra pressure," Dimri told ANI."But I think he has now learnt how to deal with it. He has found himself....... because now, when I have conversations with him, he is a different person than who he was when I met him for the first time. Very mature, very grown, very smart," she added.Helmed by director Anvitaa Dutt, the film 'Qala' starred Swastika Mukherjee, Amit Sial, Neer Raao, Avinash Raj Sharma and Ashish Singh in the lead roles. The film was produced by Karnesh Ssharma under the banner of Clean Slate Filmz. Set in the late 1930s and early 1940s, Qala is the story of an eponymous young playback singer. The film is about Qala's tragic past and the ways in which it catches up with her, causing her to unravel at the peak of her hard-won success. But the beginning and end of her spiral is her relationship with her mother, the pathology of her upbringing and the neurosis it leads to.The film was released on the streaming platform Netflix on December 1.
